To be fair this was my first trip to Marbella and it was my birthday and I had an AMAZING time generally, so that might colour this review! The staff were super friendly. The rooms were really clean. As an American living in London I'm used to European hotels being a bit on the small side but this felt like American standards. It was very comfortable. A great mix of fun and relaxation. Would recommend it to anyone and am already dying to go back.

Having read the previous reviews I'm not sure I can add much more. We have visited on 3 previous occasions and I have never had anything to complain about. The quality of this resort is as good as any I have stayed at. We are big travellers and i have a rule never to stay anywhere worse than my house. The place is immaculate, from the cleanliness of the apartment, to the beautiful gardens. The public areas, pools, bars etc are super. Its great to be right on the beach.
I do take the point of other reviewers regarding the cost in the supermarket and restaurants but there is plenty of choice. There are a couple of supermarkets within walking distance and any number of restaurants within easy walking distance. We stayed on site one evening for the Flamenco evening and it was great fun, good spanish food, sherry, wine and a taste of the singing and dancing from the region, we felt it was good value for money. We are already booked for next year.

We have been staying at this gorgeous resort for twelve years. You can just book your weeks and turn up to everything perfectly organised for you, even a grocery order from the on site shop awaiting your arrival. Super comfortable beds with dreamy down mattress toppers, down pillows and duvets, and luxurious Egyptian cotton linens, and ultra efficient air con, make for a blissful night's sleep, whilst during the day, this spacious apartment with its cream marble floors, oversized whirlpool bath, and giant walk in shower give all the comforts of home. Large balconies and a choice of floor level, make sure your holiday is perfect, with views to kill for. We love the daily room make up service, and the spaciousness of the apartments which are huge. There is a fully equipped utility room with washer and separate dryer which we find invaluable. Flat screen tvs in bedrooms and the lounge, together with wifi, are other essentials, for us, together with little touches like the nespresso coffee machine and a fully equipped kitchen with granite worktops. Maybe the most perfect start to the day is a sumptuous breakfast overlooking the sea, then a stroll down to collapse on the giant curtained fourposter sun beds, fanned by sea breezes. Handily close by, the beauty rooms can arrange an impromptu massage or beauty treatment, and a quick cut and blow dry, making sure one looks one's best for cocktails at CHILL, and dinner at El MED, the coolest place to dine by the sea. Fortunately the amazing gym is open 24 hours a day, so a few minutes on the cross trainer burns off those extra calories! With so many activities available on the resort, you could quite happily never leave! that is of course if the nearby old town of Marbella wasn't quite so accessible, or all those golf courses! not to mention the allure of Puerto Banus with it's designer shops, and superyachts to gawp at, just a short drive away, nor the shopping at La Canada, or the Corte d'Ingles
Guests at Marriott's Marbella Beach Resort are really valued, and looked after with great care by conscientious staff. Also nearby healthcare is second to none, as we found out when one of our party became seriously ill and needed an emergency operation. The Marriott staff arranged everything and in minutes help was on its way. So top marks to this great Resort. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

Room Tip: We have stayed in various apartments and they are all gorgeous, but if you get to choose, probably h...

As I couldn't decided between Marriott Marbella Beach Resort and the Marriott Playa Andaluza in Estepona, we ended up staying 5 days in the Marriott Marbella and 4 in the Marriott in Estepona.
So, in the reviews of each resort you will find the pro's and cons of each one (or comparison). The review is based in a 2 bedroom apt with sea view.

Both resorts are great, well kept and have great apartments. I'm pretty much sure you are going to enjoy no matter which one you choose. The difference between them are in the details. Keep in mind that this is a vacation club type of resort, which means more self-service, which suited us perfectly.
You can't compare this to an All-in resort, which means in this case you don't have swimming pool service, if you want something you go and order and pick it yourself. The meals are not included. Perhaps only the breakfast if you choose for it. We had it and it was a good breakfast. They even had champagne for the ones that enjoy it already in the early morning. What I liked about this type of resort is that normally you have the more family and calm type of visitors. No the drinking/party animals you sometimes find in all-ins.

In general:

The Marbella resort is the oldest one of the 2 resorts. However, you don't see any signals of it anywhere at the property.
In my opinion the grounds are more spacious. There is also no corridor along the apartments, so whoever stays in the 2nd bedroom they will not have people passing along their window. This offers therefore more privacy. The apartments have a jacuzzi in the Master bedroom (not the case in the other one)
I thought the restaurant El Med was ok/good. In my view even better and cheaper than the restaurant on the beach (Cristina) everyone talks about in the reviews.
They had a promotion for Breakfast with 25% off for adults (from 17 to +/- 12 euro's p.p.) and kids till 12 years had free breakfast.
The playgrounds for kids are nice. The one thing it impressed me is to have the topless-area between the 2 playground where kids and young adolescents can look at the topless ladies sunbathing.
You have to pay for the sunbeds on the beach and you are constant bother by guys wanting to sell stuff (dvd's, dresses, bags..). Some are very irritating and keep staying along time next you even though you have already said 'no' twice. This also happens at the restaurant on the beach. We didn't spend too much time on the beach. It is also not the most beautiful beach of Spain, but it is ok.
You have to pay for internet: We paid 19 euro's for 3 days!
There are swimming pools only for adults and during my stay, families did respect that. Which makes this resort more suitable for people that don't want to be bother by kids (all the time)
The swimming pools are beautiful, even though the ones outside where very cold. I wished the kids pool was warmed...
The cleaning offered by housekeeping is basic. I don't know how it was before, so if they are making some cost reduction at this service, however the cleaning was good enough for us as we don't make such a mess either. I believe, due to the complaints, they are informing guests better what is or not included in the cleaning/housekeeping service.

We were invited for the timeshare presentation as we are not timeshare-owners. The lady at this resort wasn't persistent and didn't bother us which was nice.
Timeshare sounds very interesting, but you should know you can buy a timeshare from other owner much cheaper than if you buy a new one view the Marriott at the same resort. My advice would be: research first before making any decision you might regret later.

In short, I would recommend the resort and even consider coming back myself as the apts are great, even when you don't have kids as they have facilities for adults only.

Family stayed 5 nights in a 3 bedroom unit. Couldn't fault it. Comfortable beds, and plenty of room. Kitchen was well equipped with enough for eight people. The grounds and gardens were beautiful, not to mention the pools . Beware of the playground though, it has big lumps all over it and I fell over one of them, and I saw a woman do the same thing the next day. Apart from that it was a perfect holiday, lots of things to do, you don't really have to leave the resort. Weather was perfect every day.

We stayed for 2 weeks in a 3 bedroom unit with 5 adults. There was plenty of room for all of us as we each had our own bathroom and the living area was large. The kitchen could have been a bit bigger (oven and microwave were not great) but the balcony was so nice. Great to have our own kitchen to cook though, and ate in a lot (property food prices are steep). Nearby SuperSol supermarket was great. The grounds of the Marriott were stunning; so well maintained and lush. Was quiet and peaceful. The big pool was great to sit by with the umbrellas and chairs. Nice to go out and walk the beach occasionally. Loved the kitties they have on the property too...sweet to pat at night when they come out. Not much to do around the property, so definitely get a car or plan to sit and read most of your time. Very enjoyable and good concierge service!

This is my first time in Spain and this resort on the Mediterranean coast was an absolute diamond. The landscaping was beautiful, the beach was quiet & had the softest dark brown sand. The restaurant on-site was average/adequate, not great, but was good enough after a long international flight. The on-site market in general seemed better than most of the Marriott timeshare marketplaces; had more grocery choices which was good when you don't know where the grocery stores are in the area AND you don't speak the language! As usual, any of the costs on the resort (restaurant & market) are extremely elevated for the convenience. The pools on the resort were beautiful, although we spent most of our time on the beach. All of the staff were extremely helpful - we were staying a few extra days at another resort & when we checked out of the Marriott resort, they let us stay on the beach & kept our account open so we could continue to charge things throughout the day and they let us shower in the locker rooms - making it so easy! We booked a trip to Tangier (pretty cool!) and took several day trips - Granada (amazing!) and Gibraltar (also very cool place!) - that were easy day trips from the resort. This is a resort stay well worth repeating on a regular basis!

Room Tip: We had a room in a building not far from the front desk. We loved the beach, so I would have prefer...
