“Great place for family vacation with (small) children”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2011

Stayed at the Marbella Beach Resort MVC for 1 week, during end of February for an extended family vacation. Rented two 3-bedroom units on 2nd and 3rd floor for 9 adults and 4 small children. The apartments were very well arranged with spacious living room, kitchen, bathroom suite and flatscreen tv's with every bedroom. Separate room for washing machine and dryer and kitchen equipment was also of high quality with a.o. Philips kettle, toaster, Nespresso machine and WMF pots and pans.
The good thing about this resort is that you have the benefits of an apartment but also all the facilities of a hotel with two indoor pools, gym and kids club. There is also a small supermarkt which stores basic necessities but best thing was that every other hour bread was baked fresh during the day, so every morning we could go downstairs and buy bread for breakfast.
The kids enjoyed their stays at the kids club, the adults would go to the gym or swimming which included a sauna and other could walk down the beach or stroll around the resort area.
We had a fab week in February which turned out to be a very sunny week with days of 20+ degrees Celsius.
You will need a rental car as the resort is not within walking distance of any tourist spots. Another great thing is that parking is situated below the apartments and by taking the elevator you end up straight from the garage to your apartment floor.
The only complaint we had was that the light cleaning which was promised daily and extensive cleaning during mid-week was not up to par and we had to call more than once to let reception know that either trash was not emptied or cleaning was not done properly. Other than this slightly minor issue we had a great week and will definitely return when the opportunity arises again for such an occasion.

We visited through a timeshare exchange in Feb 2011. The resort itself was beautiful. The rooms were large and nicely decorated. The garden grounds were also lovely. We were lucky with the weather with the temp between 20 & 23 degrees. As our party consisted of 3 adults, we hired a small car for the week which turned out cheaper than a taxi or even the shuttle bus to and from the Airport. We hired through Marbesol and the cost was 70 Euros.

Finding the resort, even with the instructions given by Marriot , was by chance. We missed the things to look out for and really found it by default. The Resort is in Elivera.

We didnt use the main resturant El Med within the resort, but we did use Charlies Bar which sells food. Antonio the bar/waiter is very friendly and the food was excellent. Alcohol prices at the resort are expensive as you would expect. A small beer was 3.30E compared to 1.15E outside, a Southern Comfort and Coke was 7.70E. Food prices were average, Pizza started at 10.75, BBQ Ribs 16.95E, Steak Salad 10.95E. We ate out at Christines resturant,( out the resort to the beach and first on the left. ) Watched a beautiful sunset as we ate a first class meal. Menu is mainly fish, but my husband had steak. Bill for 3 starters and 3 main courses and a jug of Sangria was around 80 Euros. I would not recommend you eat at the resturant along the beach to the right, not sure of the name of it but it has a wooden lifeguard station outside it. The chicken was dried out, I think it had been on the spit all day, we actually had to ask for napkins and condiments for our table and the staff were torn faced.

We used the local bus to travel into Marbella town which only cost 1.30E each. You have to walk down to the main road for the bus and they come every half hour. It stops right beside the Old Town and ask directions to Orange Square for lovely resturants and shops within an old Orange Tree lined Square. We drove to Benhavis expecting more than we got. There really is nothing there except resturants. Mijas is far prettier and has more shops and a buzz to it. Mijas is also THE place to purchase some nice pearls. Puerto Banus is not be missed. We managed to park in the underground car park beneath the large shopping centre and then walked the short distance to the marina where luxury and wealth are in abundance with the yachts, designer stores & top end cars.

A great holiday, and one I would repeat again.

All the staff were nice and helpful. Annabel the resort rep was very helpful giving us maps and directions to where we asked. She visited out apartment to welcome us and asked if we would like to attend the Marriot Meeetings, but there was no pressure.

We are a family of five (kids are 7,8 and 11) and we just came back from this resort (there for the Feb break) and we were very pleased with our holiday. We had originally booked in for 7 nights but extended one more night. The weather was very good for this time of year, sunny everyday and temperatures ranged from 19-22. The resort had direct access to the beach and most days, we spent a couple of hours there. While the water was very cold, we did manage to play a little in it. We would recommend that you bring water shoes as it is rocky once you walk out a few feet. The resort outdoor pools only opened at the end of the week and they were quite cold (not heated) but the management opened the adult only indoor pool for families as the other family pool was quite crowded.

The kid's club was also a hit with our kids and each day they wanted to do some of the activities. The staff were fantastic!

The resort had two of their restaurants opened and we found that, while the food was good, the service was slow. They didn't seem to have enough staff on duty.

Our room was a two bedroom with two bathrooms. The living room had a pullout couch which was excellent, dining for six people and a great kitchen. The patio overlooked the adult outdoor pool. We received a daily cleaning service(bed made) but I wished they had a good mid week clean as eight days is long for a bathroom & floor cleaning.

We used the concierge service for two day trips and they were very helpful. Their written driving directions with tips for the area were excellent. I would highly recommend that if you are driving to this resort, ask them to send you the driving directions as you can easily get lost by google maps.

I would certainly recommend the Marriott to other families as it has everything you need for a great holiday with your family!

This hotel will not disappoint you. Our room was an open plan, two bed/two bathroom acommodation with a fully functional kitchen (including utility room), indoor dining area and lounge which opened onto a good size balcony. The main bedroom had a kingsize bedroom, flat screen tv, spacious wardrobes and plenty of drawers. It had an open plan bathroom with jacuzzi and shower, plus two sinks. The toilet was obviously private.
The second bedroom had two single beds, again plenty of storage and a flat screen tv. This had a jack and jill bathroom, we used this as our shower room, as the shower was huge.

All the staff were so helpful. When we requested our dressing gowns they were delivered within five minutes (the dressing gowns are free but obviously need to be handed back.) You have plenty shower towels plus they provided four beach towels.
The rooms are tended to every day, beds made, bins emptied.

The grounds are beautiful. The gardens were neat and manicured. The top outdoor pool was so peaceful and relaxing and the bottom and larger pool was more family orientated. There are two indoor pools, the one at the top of the complex was for adults only, but when we were there children did go into it, but I would presume in the busier months they wouldn't be allowed and besides there is a gorgeous family pool down by the beach area. Down by the family pool was table tennis.

Car hire is not essential as you can get about on the buses. The bus into Marbella and Marbella bus station is about 200 metres from the hotel, again the staff at the hotel would give you all the info you need. The buses are so cheap compared to taxis about one euro fifty cent per person.

There is a shop on site and is useful for water and beers (although the beers were expensive compared to the supermarkets). However, there is a supermarket up the road which was much cheaper and it's within walking distance of the hotel. It was also set in and amongst some lovely spainish eateries.

On the beach just along from the hotel in both directions are some lovely places to eat and to enjoy the sunsets.

Overall a fabulous hotel. With regards to car hire, I think I would recommend that it's certainly an advantage, but if you are prepared to catch a few buses you can still get around and see some lovely sites.

Everithing was excellent, I just didn't like the hotel beach and being so far away from town.
But if your ideal holiday consist of staying staying by the pool, using the gym and being treated like a VIP this is it. A little bit too artificial for my taste. No character.
