“Best location in Marbella”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2012

This hotel’s location is perfect to explore Marbella and luxurious enough to command its status as one of Marbella’s best hotel. It is situated on the beach, close to many restaurants/bars and 2 minutes from old town Marbella. It is also a 10euro cab ride from Puerto Banus. You could not find a better location if you are a person who likes the beach but does not want to be limited to it.

The hotel has a lovely pool, nice gardens and helpful staff. The usual problems exist in that there could be more sunbeds but we prefer to head to the beach so no big issue for us. At the beach, I was surprised that the beach club, in association or owned by the hotel, charged 7euro per sun bed.

We were upgraded to the junior suite, we had booked a standard. This was a lovely touch. The room itself is by no amazing but it is nice and we had a side sea view. From reading the other reviews on this site prior to booking, I was concerned about the room but with the upgrade, it was more than fine.

A typical Costa del Sol resort hotel. A Little bit aged, but still inhabitable. The service is cordial and competent. Nice pool and banquet facilities. But what makes this worth the money is its location right on the beach. Would stay there again.

We returned yesterday from our stay in Marbella and felt that we should recommend this hotel to all. Situated right on the sea front, it's perfect for a short walk to the old town or for a dip in the sea. The hotel is on the larger side, decorated in cool shades of white marble, with a large terrace outside which is perfect for a glass of wine in the evening. The bar is extensive, serving wines, spirits and cocktails in abundance. The staff are polite and plentiful and speak many languages to help all travellers feel at home. A large buffet style breakfast is on offer everyday which has something for everyone. The hotel has a smaller outdoor pool and also an indoor heated pool. The only downside was that on occasion you may have had to wait a few minutes to be served on the terrace, but maybe this was because the hotel was fully booked and clearly popular. The house keeping was great, the rooms were cleaned every day and new towels left. The cleaner was extremely pleasant and the mini bar was always well stocked. The hotel offered entertainment on certain nights and also lots on info on the surrounding area and local weather. I would definately visit this hotel again and happily take friends and family too...

Room Tip: Sea view room or side sea view are a bonus.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Fuerte.
The location of the hotel is perfect for old Marbella and the sea front.
We had a classic double side sea view room which was adequate, but double does mean two single beds pushed together!! Rooms were clean, and as corridors are carpeted we did not notice any neighbourly noise!!
Parking at the hotel is Euros 12 per day.
Breakfasts were 'ok' with a buffet selection and an egg station. It is possible to be seated outside but you have to push!! Soya milk available on request.
The hotel was full for the duration of our stay, but we didn't feel this compromised facilities or service.

This hotel is amongst the best we have ever stayed in. The room was lovely (full sea view double) with mini bar and safe. Room was cleaned daily during our stay. We found all staff to be helpful and cheerful, especially the reception staff.
The breakfast was unbelievable - chocolate fountain? chocolate fudge cake? There was plenty of choice - English, Continental, Omelettes, Fruit all on a buffet basis.
Pool areas were quiet, clean and felt safe. Beach was very nice but I thought the hotel charge for sunbeds (14 euros for 2) was excessive. Also you will be bothered every minute or so by the dreaded "lucky lucky" men and the Thai masseuses. They really are a pain and proved to be the only downside of Marbella.
The only gripe I would have with the actual hotel is that there was no tea/coffee making facilities in the room which I would expect an hotel of this class to provide.
We holidayed without the kids this time and agreed that we would be hard pressed to keep them entertained both in the hotel and the resort. For this reason I would not recommend this to families.

Room Tip: Pay the extra and get a full sea view.

This hotel is nothing like it looks on the Internet. If you wanted to be treated badly by ignorant staff, come here. They treat customers will so much disrespect. The rooms are dreadful too! We hated it!

I appreciate your comment and would like to take it as an opportunity for improving. However I would be grateful to have more concrete info:
1) what is it that is so different in reality to what we show in internet
2) we are 140 persons in the team, majority of reception staff speak 3 languages and are locals, so they know about the area
3) Fuerte Marbella has 263 rooms, majority of which are lovely, good size and with a beautiful view

This hotel is more old fashioned elegance than modern and groovy. Quality goes a long way and there is no temptation to recommend an "upgrade" to what is essentially a lovely building. The exception to this lies in the hair drying facility in the bathroom. Very antiquated and slow! The bedroom we chose was a front sea view. To be honest it was just short of being a reasonably sized double. The wonderful view and the sound of the waves quashed any irritation however.
The breakfast offered anything a reasonable person would require. Service was efficient and all areas were superbly clean.
Bar service was acceptable but drinks were expensive.Crisps or olives were offered most of the time.Hard to resist!
Evening entertainment was unremarkable and definitely geared to the older generation. No complaints however and I couldn't make suggestions on improvements.
Best of all is the location. Beach, promenade and old town all on the doorstep along with numerous restaurants. Couldn't be beaten.
All in all a great hotel choice.

Room Tip: Sea view. New building worth a try.
