“Lovely Hotel..Perhaps Overpriced?”

Modern feeling hotel with great ameneties including indoor pool and gym. Very close to the beach and great breakfast. But is 3x (based on the price we paid) better than the surrounding hotels?
they seem to attract a few business meetings conferences so be prepared for some loud sales reps at the pool..and the odd Essex/Scouse Wedding Party!

Thank you for your comment as it is of relative importance to us to know where our strengths and weaknesses stand. Moreover, it is a great opportunity to us to keep on enhancing our standards and service delivery.

We are pleased to know that you have enjoyed our facilities and services. However, we are sorry to know that you have been disturbed by the noise due to private events. Kindly note that: the hotel Gran Meliá Don Pepe made all the efforts in order to disturb our guests as less as possible always respecting the standards of sound pollution permitted by law. Moreover, we would like to inform you that the hotel does accept few groups and business meetings during summer period.

We do hope that we would reach all of your expectations in your next visit to Marbella.

I was here for a week, pictures look great online, the hotel itself is very dated décor, (mid 80's kinda vibe). It was clean, no complaints there. The staff I would say is below average to average, could just be that's the way it is in Spain, but for the price I was expecting much better and attentive service. Bartenders will ignore you on purpose, I just had to laugh, again not knowing if its a cultural thing or just crap service. Would I recommend you stay here? ...negative not for the price and dated feel and poor service level.

Nice rooms and grounds but service definitely not 5 star. I refer mainly to the front desk though wait staff re not very impressive either. Guy on the gate almost prevented me entering as he could not see my name on the check in list. All looked as though the clients were there to create work for them. I needed something's fixed by the front desk but each day saw no progress. Notes taken by pencil, no sense of anything passed on to the next and eventually the problem was not solved. I would recommend changing the front desk manager and getting some younger more enthusiastic staff. I note some previous review have made similar comments, to those reviewers, nothing seems to have changed. However, if you don't have any issues, the room & corridor decor and grounds are relaxing and breakfast (other than the hot breakfast which was poor) is excellent.

My husband and I have just returned from another excellent 12 night stay at this lovely hotel. We were greeted on arrival by Ana, one of the Red Level personnel. We were booked in while enjoying a lovely glass of cold Cava. She then showed us to our room - wow!! We had decided to try one of their Grand Ocean Suites and it was truly amazing. (see photos). Last year the hotel took 14 rooms on the 7th floor and made them into 7 suites. We spent a lot of time enjoying this room and will certainly have no hesitation in booking one next year. Walk in wardrobe, lovely sitting area with balcony, huge bed (not two beds pushed together!), another balcony off the bedroom and an amazing bathroom with twin sinks, double rain shower and very large bath. The amenities were all Clarins. We were presented with a bottle of Moët, chocolate dipped strawberries and a wonderful arrangement of fruit. We're not sure if this was because I'm a Melia Gold Card holder or because we were returnees! We so enjoyed our first evening!! The housekeeping is excellent. Everything is so clean.

Breakfast is the best we've had anywhere with a huge selection of everything. We even heard people ask for things that weren't on show and they were produced in minutes.

We had dinner in the hotel restaurant one evening but we weren't very impressed. There are so many wonderful places to eat in and around the old town so that wasn't a problem.

The gardens are lovely but Melia please put some solar panels in and heat the pool. It's so cold and under used because of the temperature. Rafael at the pool deserves a special mention as he seems to know what you need before you've realised it yourself. He loves his job and it shows in the way he deals with everyone. Thank you.

Our only disappointment, apart from the dinner, was the closure of the spa pool. It's being renovated and will be super once it's finished. I enjoyed the spa pool last time because the main pool was so cold. Hopefully next time it will be up and running.

Thank you to Ana and all the red personnel. They were extremely helpful and friendly. We like the Red Level. It works very well for us.

Thank you to all the staff, without exception, they were all great.
We will be back......

We spent lovely days here in this Gran Hotel. Excellent service and food, nice people, especially the guy who was responsible at the pool for the sunchairs etc.
And not to forget: Ernesto, the Tennis teacher, very professional and smart!

Marbella is a nice Beachresort and it was a pleasant Vacation there. It was one Week at this good and well managed Hotel and we could enjoy it very much.
There was a good Level of Service and a very good Selection at the Bar.

A very good hotel, conveniently positioned for a pleasant walk into Centro. Also, for us, the hotel staff from the Reception, restaurants, Room staff and those in the Pool Area are absolutely brilliant, by being so helpful and respond in a pleasant manner on any subject.

The hotel breakfast caters for every taste! fruit, cheeses, hams, and other meats plus the chef's area who will cook you eg, a fried egg to omelettes with all kinds of fillings of your choice and much more.

Room Tip: Choose a higher floor has less noise if any plus provides brilliant views
