3 superb restaurants, Italian, Seafood and Japanese (Japanese chef). The best on the Costa Del Sol, the weekends bring in the beautiful locals adding to the atmosphere and sophistication. The tennis club was started by Bjorn Borg and is the best of any hotel I've seen. The mature gardens add to the charm of the quintessential Spanish architecture. I'm going back as often as I can.

We spent last weekend at the Puente Romano having visited Marbella many times but never having had the chance to stay there. The hotel met and exceeded all of our expectations, and it's very hard to see how some recent reviewers can be critical of a unique place in a lovely setting with some superb members of staff.
We were initially upgraded to a suite but given one - like a previous reviewer - which smelt musty and damp (we suspect it had been unused for a while). But, once we pointed this out, we were moved to another suite without fuss, within 20 minutes and with a free bottle of champagne by way of apology. That's the way a 5-star hotel should respond to a valid guest complaint.
With that sorted, we loved the Puente Romano. The 'dense greenery' that a previous reviewer talks about is an amazing, beautifully tended, garden which stretches from the reception area to the sea. The rooms/suites are quiet, clean and luxurious, and the staff everywhere in the hotel are first class.....including the concierge and doormen, reception personnel, and the waiting staff at the Sea Grill. They treat you as important guests, and again, that's how it should be at this level of property.
We didn't have dinner at the hotel during our three-night stay, but we did enjoy both breakfast and lunch. How anyone can criticise the breakfast at the Sea Grill is beyond me. We thought it was among the best breakfasts we've had in recent years. And it could hardly be in a nicer setting overlooking the Mediterranean.
We've no complaints. It's a superb hotel, quite unique, individual and a haven of peace and class. We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: A lot of suites have a view into the gardens, and only a few have a sea view. Providing you're m...

The hotel is unique as it is built in the style of a Spanish Village and is impressive and very clean. However due to the design our accommodation was on the higher floor which had 3 flights of tiled steps (no lift) leading to it with views of dense greenery and no sea views. We immediately requested a change and had no alternative but to pay a supplement to move to a suite with a sea view- very costly move! It is a shame that the food does not equal the surroundings as the breakfast was the worse we have had in a 5 star hotel and other guests made the same comments. Cereals still in the original packaging, food overcooked and cold!! Also the area designated is not big enough to accommodate a full capacity at the hotel which left guests queuing and waiting for tables to become vacant. Our other complaint relates to the lack of mattresses on the loungers both at the pool and at the beach. This is not 5 star luxury!! The food and miscellaneous items including drinks are overpriced and very expensive and in our opinion not value for money. On the positive side the staff are efficient and very friendly. We doubt if we will return!!

Dear Guest,

It comes with great disappointment to receive such negative feedback in regards to your stay at Hotel Puente Romano.

We are aware that you visited our property during the high season which results in up to very high occupancy. This would explain the waiting at the breakfast in Sea Grill. While we are aware the capacity is quite limited at the restaurant, we have chosen to serve the breakfast there in order for our guests to enjoy the amazing sea view and nature of the beach which is within metres distance, as well as to easily access the poolside after their breakfast. Please note we are regularly changing the breakfast venues depending our our seasons in order to avoid such situations.

We do take note of the guest’s preferences for room’s location and the type of category however it also depends on availability as well as the rate difference. Please note we also offer rooms with garden views which are also highly requested by many guests.

In regards to your feedback regarding the food and sun lounge beds, we have forwarded your comments to the related departments in order to avoid such issues in the future.

We are hoping you will return to Hotel Puente Romano so we may accommodate and surpass your needs and expectations as well as revive any negative views you have of our property.

Kind regards,

Jorge Manzur

Just returned from this 5* hotel and it was absolutely fantastic. From the moment we arrived the staff were informative and attentive. Our room was just fabulous with a view of the sea literally metres in front. The food was incredible. The hotels interior design was very stylish and contemporary with soft shades which felt very welcoming. I thought the layout was extremely well planned with many different areas to eat and relax. If i had to be picky the only things i could really suggest would be docking stations for ipods, free drinking water in rooms daily and although room service is 1st class you still have to wait and it would be nice to be able to make a hot drink if you so wished but as i said these are my thoughts. We will most definetely be returning to this hotel sooner rather then later so thankyou Hotel Puente Romano for making our holiday with you extremely enjoyable................

Room Tip: rooms with a sea view are fantastic cost more but well worth it

Puente Romano is built in the style of a pretty Spainsh village. The rooms are primarily overlooking the gardens but not the sea. Many of the rooms have been refurbished so unless you are a real traditionalist I would recommend you request one of the new rooms. Also try for a higher floor to minimise noise. In terms of service I have found the hotel to be excellent. Even when things haven't been perfect nothing is too much trouble. OK, the female concierge could smile occasionally!! I am playing tennis here most days and the tennis centre must be the best on the Costa del Sol. Mainly clay. The staff are brilliant and the courts are kept in perfect condition. It's the same with the restaurants, I have eaten in both Sea Grill and Serafina and if you are feeling lazy and want to eat in you will more than likely enjoy both. The only thing I really disliked about the hotel was the very small pools. They are just not up to scratch for this day and age. Especially the 'top pool' which is just a joke. Perhaps the hotel should visit the nearby Don Carlos Hotel and find some architectural inspiration. Pleasant rooms, plenty of restaurants, good service, great tennis and a good selection of shops. Love the florists. I just don't love those dreadful pools!!

Room Tip: Refurbished room, high floor!

Dear Guest,

It is a pleasure to receive your comments regarding your last stay with us. The comments we receive from all our guests are well studied and we appreciate it very much. After summer season we always start new projects to improve our installations. This winter we are concentrating on improving our suites so that we can offer our guests much better value and comfort. It is our intentions to keep our guests happy so they choose Puente Romano as their second residence with a luxury service and friendly atmosphere.
Last year we have improved our Beach Club and the Swimming pool area with a totally new refurbishment and it has been very welcoming by our guests. We are also in process of new interesting project for the next two years.
I wish to thank you again for your valuable feedback. I hope to have the opportunity to welcome you very soon.

Just returned from a one week stay in a deluxe garden suite, enjoyed it so much we have booked for 2 weeks next year. The hotel is ideally situated between banus and Marbella. It also has several restaurants on site, all worth trying. The courtyard is great for late night drinks. The beach has plenty of sun loungers and gentle waves. Cannot fault this hotel and would recommend it to anyone visiting Marbella.

We stayed at this property recently and were assigned to a musty room with a soaking WET floor upon check in after 6PM. After my husband and I dried the floor with some of the bath towels we decided to call reception and try to request another room. A bellman was sent to show me another room. Upon opening the door to the next room, we realized that some other parties luggage was already in the room. The bellman quickly closed the door and called reception. Apparently, only the luggage had been delivered but we were able to keep the second room as it was not musty and as least the floor was dry. Overall, this property was very expensive and not worth the money. The hotel had closed the main pool and Sea Grill restaurant for a private function our first day so we were unable to use it. We received no notification of this prior to check in. We had lunch the next day at another pool and had terrible service. In fact we think they forgot our order completely but realized we were still sitting at a table and we needed to be served something after everyone else cleared out. For our Spain vacation this was the most expensive hotel and the WORST value for our money. Shop for a better alternative.

Room Tip: We really did not feel this property was worth the money regardless of room assignment

Dear Guest,

I wish to thank you for choosing to stay at Hotel Puente Romano and for sharing your concerns. I sincerely apologize for our poor service, and I assure you this is not the norm for the Puente Romano Hotel. Regarding some of your mentioned points during your stay I would like to specify the following:

Before the guests arrival our house- keeping department checks the rooms at least two times so everything is in order before the guest arrives to the room. In your case unfortunately some mistakes did occur, it is an isolated case and please rest assured we are highly committed to this issue and we shall pay more attention in the future so these events are not repeated.

You mentioned that during your first day at the resort we closed the main swimming pool and Sea Grill restaurant without any notice. Please allow me to explain that there was a notification in every single room and in check –in a letter was provided to all our guests; informing them about the Charity Gala at the Sea Grill. Nevertheless the swimming pool was open from 8:00am until 5:00pm on the day of the Gala and the Sea Grill restaurant was open during it’s normal operative hours day and evening. This is the first Charity Gala we have organized at the Hotel and it was a great success; most of the guests participated and had a wonderful time.

I am extremely sorry to hear that you felt that the resort is the WORST value for money. We have worked very hard this year to improve service and create an even more exclusive atmosphere for our guests. In this respect our Sea Grill restaurant and the Beach Pool are one of the most important projects of this year, they were welcomed by our customers and made us proud to be able to offer such products to our guests.

As you are well aware, we strive to meet and exceed all of our guests’ expectations. I am very sad that this incident has affected your perceptions, since this is definitely not the type of experience we would wish you to remember us for.

Please feel free to contact me should you need any further information or assistance.
