Not a five star hotel not even a one, needs burning or knocking down & the blood on the curtains in our room raises serious health issues!!!!!

My partner and I chose to spend our last remaining night of our Spanish holiday at this so called 'medical spa'. We had travelled around a lot of the south staying in a variety accommodation from 3* cheap and clean to a lovely 5* hotel in Sevilla.

When we arrived the reception staff were surley and unhelpful treating our online booking with suspicion. We got 'upgraded' to a suite which comprised a large extra living room which smelt of old smoke, had 2 collapsed old sofas and a tiny boxy TV from the early 90's.

The one good feature is that it has lots of swimming pools, 6 on our count. Although we were put off from going for a swim when we saw a dead mouse in the bottom of the indoor pool. The jacuzzi in the spa was in a dark corner with no natural light and he flooring reminded us of how public swimming baths used to look circa. 25 years ago.

The restaurant has 5* prices but the quality looked really low, so low in fact that we ended up just going to the local supermarket and buying supplies to eat in our room.

In summary this has to be one of the worst hotels we have stayed in and I would not recommend it to anyone. A really disappointing last night in Spain. We were so lucky that we did not book our whole stay here. It begs the question as to how it received a 'Conde Naste Gold Star' award in 2010 as no one in their right mind would give this place a gold star. The main reason for writing this review is to save anyone the sheer disappointment that we experienced.

Had a fab time at the incosol hotel. you can tell it was a 5 star in its day but seems somewhat dated now. negatives about the hotel- expensive to eat here and cleanliness of the pools needed attention. On one evening the hotel hosted a gala dinner and tables etc were placed on the poolside where the sunbeds were usually kept. The following morning we used the sunbeds which were back in their usual place only to find broken glass all over the floor. I took some of the broken glass to reception to report it and suggested someone came to the poolside area to clean. The guy on reception (xavier lookalike from those french books we had at school-if you get my jist) kindly looked at the glass and picked up the phone. unfortunately the guy did not offer to take the glass from me so i prompyly wondered aimlessly around the hotel with a load of broken glass in my hand until i found a bin and whats more no one visited the poolside to clean up the broken glass- not the service you would expect from any hotel let alone a 5 star. on the plus side- the rooms were comfortable, the staff pleasant, breakfast perfect, clean rooms and the free shuttle service into marbella was a great bonus. we will def consider going back again but just reluctant to pay top dollar.

Having stayed in many hotels all around the world I would never consider this hotel as five star, everything was pretty average,, breakfast was very poor and boring, rooms are very dated and old, generally if you're over sixty you may find the hotel alright however not for anyone else

Just returned from a long weekend, the Hotel and facilities are top notch. Breakfast was excellent for choice including the champagne.....of which we sampled several glasses..
the rooms are a little tired but clean and comfortable.
A couple of points to mention is the hotel is nowhere near anything else so car hire is handy, though not necessary as the shuttle bus runs very regularly, only downside you share with the staff (though not a problem to us, but the hotel guests should come first) several times during the day.
Another odd thing is people wearing bathrobes to breakfast......called me old fashioned but do they realise just how ridiculous they look!!!!!!
Bar prices somewhat expensive.....19 euros for a brandy!!!!!!
Would defo be going back.

Have just returned from Incosol and wanted to write something straight away. Firstly, let me say I have never felt so relaxed in my life. This is definitely the hotel's strength. However, I think it does require some explanation so that you are prepared.
It is a spa with a 'medical' element to it,so it's fair to say the majority of guests are in their senior years, and have been going for years and years, there is a very loyal clientele. However, the advantage of this is that no-one is rushing anywhere, and it is lovely and calm, and quiet. However, there are people in all age groups ( I am in my 30's, travelled alone, and met a nice crowd there), even babies- though not many kids as there are no special facilities (this also makes the place extremely quiet).
It's fair to say the place is rather faded and badly needs some investment to bring it back to it's former glory as Europe's top spa destination. The facilities are great; 6 pools (one lovely outdoor heated one), spa facilities, amazing buffet lunch (57 euros!). If you are on a budget there is a free hotel mini bus into Marbella (journey about 10 mins) running regularly, so you can eat there, enjoy the old town, the beach etc, yet come home to your quiet hotel at night. The staff are fantastic, really old fashioned 5 star service. Also, great activities to try, I did the group power-walk in Marbella every morning and also had the chance to try Tai-chi (all free). Bedrooms are gorgeous, clean, nicely decorated.
So, in conclusion, if you can get past the 'old peoples home 'atmosphere, and slightly faded appearance of the place, and get with the programme, you will have a lovely relaxing time, attended to by dedicated staff. I hope this has been useful! I am going back next year.

The Incosol is a superb hotel. It is situated higher up in the mountains close to the hospital. The rooms were very spacious and clean with excellent balacony with sea views. The staff were lovely. The hotel has 6 different swimming pools (4 outdoor, 2 indoor) a spa circuit (jacuzzi, hamman, sauna, heated loungers all of which are free) and very well fitted gym. There is a lovely bar with outside seating that looks over the water pond, gardens and swimming pools. A car is a good idea as you can drive to any of the beach restaurants or Marbella for lunch/dinner. If you a want a quiet relaxing break with absolutely superb facilities I would highly recommend this hotel. Also don't leave without having a massage - it was one of the best I have ever had.
