“A perfect choice for the air traveller”

Malaga Hotel Picasso

Jun 3, 2008

We wanted a hotel near the airport as we were supposed to land at about midnight but our flight was delayed by 2 hours. After waiting for our luggage and getting our rented car we arrived just before 3am but the lady who waited for us could not have been more gracious about it. At that time of night we were relieved our hotel was so near; the choice was perfect: only 3 minutes' drive away. Because it is so near the airport we didn't expect Hotel Picasso to be so nice and quiet. We had a large, comfortable and spotless room (and a bowl of fresh fruit on the table). It is a beautiful location with a lovely garden and swimming pool. The staff were charming. We brought our TomTom and would not have found the hotel without it.

Stayed in the Hotel Picasso in Guadalmar for two nights in May 07. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone with a short stopover wanting to just chill out as pool area and garden are beautiful and wonderfully maintained. This is a small short stopover hotel only as its location is not close to Malaga town but the barrio of Guadalmar is nice for wandering around, the beach small and unspoilt with two wonderful local seafood restaurants but thats about it. Perfect for the end of the holiday if you want to fly home well and truly relaxed.

“Relaxing Hotel”

The Hotel Picasso is very quietly situated in Guadalmar, and with very friendly and helpful staff, who are multilingual, make this an ideal relaxing location. It was refreshing to still be able to have a breakfast as late as 10.00am if you had previously had late night, but the service starts at 8.30am. The evening meal if taken was very good and well priced with a varying menu. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. The only thing I would add is if you do not have a car and do not wish to use the local bus service which we found to be very good then you should consider a hiring a car.

needed a room to stay one night before my flight back to madrid and found this place by mistake. didn´t have a reservation but was lucky to find a room.
the hotel has a pool and hot tub. very recommended, clean and neat.
ate dinner at the hotel and it was great!
all in all - if you are looking for a clean small hotel near malaga but without the noise, this is it. not too expensive too - was about 70 Euro.

“Disappointed”

Malaga Hotel Picasso

We stayed at the Hotel Picasso in September 2007. Unfortunately it didn’t quite match up to our expectations. The hotel itself was very clean, and the buffet breakfast was very good. There was no bar as such, but you could have a drink in the lounge. The internet didn’t work for the 8 days we were there. The mini-bar was warm and the menu was the same every night and fairly plain. The cleaner’s storeroom was next to our bedroom and this was quite noisy. It states on the hotel website that all the bedrooms open on to the garden, this isn’t quite accurate as “the garden” is actually the front of the hotel, next to the road, for about 4 of the rooms and we didn’t feel comfortable sitting there. The main bone of contention was the lack of a courtesy room and the attitude of the staff when one was requested. We had stayed a the hotel for 8 days, but when we asked if we could have a shower in the afternoon we were told, very abruptly, “no”, but we could sit in the garden!

Again on the website it states that it is only 5 minutes from the old city centre of Malaga, but due to the major road works, it actually takes about 20 minutes in a taxi, and 45 minutes on the bus – so ideally you need a car, and again there is no mention of this on the website. There is nothing in the way of restaurants apart from the two beach restaurants, which although basic are very good. It states that Plaza Mayor has lots of restaurants and shops etc – it does, but these are outlet shops and fast food restaurants (McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken), not very Spanish!

We would stay a the hotel again, but only as a one or two night stop over, as we didn’t feel it was suitable for a longer holiday.
