“Worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

With our map we managed to find this museum. We thoroughly enjoyed it - we were amused by some of the exhibits which we think is a good thing. We enjoyed looking side-ways onto some exhibits just to see how they had been made. Some wonderful stones with lead inserts. A museum that gets you thinking, even for us who are not particularly arty.

“One of the best museums of contemporary art I know”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

In the 10 years the museum has existed, it has shown an impressive selection of the greatest and most famous contemporary artists in the world. Anish Kapoor, Gerhard Richter, Louise Bourgeois, Miguel Barceló, Jake and Dinos Chapman, Jaume Plensa, Neo Rauch, and on and on. The director has done an incredible job in getting these stars to exhibit in a fairly new institution in a city not particularly known for its commitment to art. I hope it will just go on doing this fabulous work!

“Free !”

Interesting "lefty" art gallery in river front building. Lovely for meals on a sunny day outside. Rather niggardly with the wine portions!

“Modern Art in Málaga”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

Situated in the centre of Málaga and adjacent to the river, Centro de Arte is about 10-15 minutes walk from the Port, or from the Maria Zambrano Railway and Bus Stations. It features displays by various artists on quite diverse subjects. These displays change periodically and so ensure continuing interest on the part of the visitor. Currently, the exhibitions are mostly by students of Malaga Uni & Art Department who have managed to provide vibrant displays in both two dimensions and three.
With these displays, photography is allowed, if one observes the usual courtesy of using no flash.
The Centre also has a nice cafeteria/restaurant adjoining it in which to have a bite to eat and a drink.
Take a little time out to explore the Contemporary Art Centre, you will not be disappointed.

“worth the pot luck of changing exhibitions”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

This is a nice, free museum of contemporary art with ever changing exhibitions. Some of them are great, and some of them not so great. But it is always worth popping in to see what is on there. Also present - a little unusual for museums in this part of the world - is a cafe!
