“Great stay, excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

What a great hotel, slap bang in the city centre across from the market, and 5 mins from the main shopping street. it is so close to the castle area and if you are going on a day trip to Tangiers, it is 5 mins to the pick up point.

Staff very extremely professional all the time. Very helpful . Hotel was very clean.

We decided to stay at Atarazanas for an airport stop before flying out of Malaga the following morning. The hotel is of a good standard, clean and pleasant. The reception staff were very helpful. Our room was a standard double and was of reasonable size, although not particularly large. We had a balcony overlooking the busy city centre street and the room was well appointed. We chose the hotel for its reasonable price (49€ on a Tuesday night in December) although we can't quite understand why laterooms.com suggest that the standard price is 315€! (the hotel is good, but not that good!). The hotel is centrally located just off the very centre of the beautiful old city (for us, the old city is a revelation). It's probably less than 10 minutes walk from the Cathedral and around about a 20 minute walk to the central bus station and train station. We noted that some reviewers suggested that the hotel was quite noisy given its location. Yes, there is a bit of drone from the traffic (particularly I suspect from rooms at the front of the hotel), but with the extra balcony doors shut we didn't find the location particularly noisy or an issue. The beds are some of the most comfortable we've ever slept in; they are quite soft and you literally sink into the matress and it shapes itself around you. We didn't have the breakfast option so can't comment on that. In summary, a good hotel at a decent price is a very good location just minutes walk from the old city centre. Recommended.

Room Tip: If you're concerned about traffic noise perhaps ask for a room away from the front of the hotel...

We stayed at the Atarazanas for 3 nights just before Christmas. It's a clean well designed hotel without frills. Our 4th floor room had a nice view out towards the surrounding mountains and was functional and smartly furnished. Some people might find the location on a busy street(opposite the fabulous Central Market) slightly noisy at night. But this did not bother us. The breakfast was pretty standard with a small but adequate choice. The reception staff were very helpful friendly and professional.
All in all a good place to stay on a short break in the lovely city of Malaga.

Room Tip: The higher the floor the better the view!

Perfect location in downtown Malaga. Clean, plenty of hot water and very helpful staff. Did not sample the buffet breakfast as there were so many cafes in the area to choose from. Request a room off the street for a more peaceful night's rest.

Hotel Atarazanas is a nice hotel in a good location in Malaga. Easy to transfer from the airport and close to the city centre. Malaga is a lovely city and worth a visit. Free wifi a great bonus and rooms are clean and comfortable. Great value.

We stayed @ Atarazanas at the end of October 2012 ... turned out to be the "rainy season". The hotel was clean and comfortable. The room facilities were just what we needed, particularly the shower! The staff were VERY helpful, not only were they able to recommend restaurants but they were able to give us information concerning what to see and where to go. We definitely recommend the sightseeing bus trip ... if you get the timing right you can use the 24hour ticket on the second day.
We used the cafe next door (not open Sunday morning) to the hotel for breakfast and there was another down the side street. Having a supermarket next door was very useful or the big market over the road if you're feeling more adventurous.
The location of Hotel Atarazanas is in an ideal location for visiting the City and its surrounds!

The staff are friendly, helpful and speak good English. The hotel is well situated for all the main attractions in and around Malaga. The breakfast is varied and plentiful, but the hotel does not have a restaurant or a bar, but there are plenty of options nearby.
Our room was of a good size and very clean, very quiet and the bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I have slept in.
The only negative would be the lack of tea & coffee making facilities in the room, but there is a vending machine in the foyer.

Room Tip: we stayed in room 105 which was a good size and very quiet.
