“Beautiful walls,views and gardens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

We visited this after a disappointing trip to the Jardin Botanico and were blown away by the variety of flowers, beautifully kept gardens in a spectacular setting. We were there late in the afternoon in November, and the light was perfect. It is our favourite place we have seen so far in Malaga.

“The small Alhambra”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

It is kept in a rather good state but not as magnificent as Alhambra. It has some beautiful gardens with Nazari tiles and fountains, some of them very similar to Alhambra but not as elaborate- such as the Alberca patio.

“Well preserved historical gem!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

This was definitely a highlight during our visit to Málaga!! The alcazaba is built on a hill overlooking the city and the port. It was built by the Hammudid dynasty in the 11th century. We walked up mid-morning and there were hardly any other visitors at this time. You can meander on the walls and in patios and little gardens all along your climb to the top. The views alone are worth the climb! However the architecture and well preserved details are outstanding! It is the best preserved alcazaba [citadel] in Spain.

There are two walled enclosures, the first one contains paths that wander thru' patios and gardens and contain many fountains. The second one houses the palace and other buildings and you can wander around at your own pace to apprceciate the buildings and the views. To apprciate everything plan on around 2 hours for the visit.

“Take a walk in Malaga”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

Medieval castle on top of the hill in Malaga. Spectacular view over the city. Good for a day walking site. Cafeteria (Cheap & Cheerful) on top for refreshment.

“Lovely quiet place to wander and excellent value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

Although we had no proof of age, the attendant charged us only 80 cents each on the pensioner rate (we are 64). Excellent value at that. Great views, quiet and peaceful, interesting exhibits.Could have done with more descriptions in English
