“Great location, great value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2011

Would recommend this hotel very highly. Ideally located in the centre of this very elegant city - within easy walking distance of almost anywhere you would want to go! 2 minutes from the cathedral and Picasso museum, 5 minutes from the Contemporary Art Museum and train station, and only 15 minutes stroll to the beach. Very clean, very comfortable and very good value for money...

This hotel is perfectly located in the centre of the tourist area of the city and near all the main sights, within minutes of the Picasso museum, the Cathedral and the Alcazar. It is at the end of an elegant and pedestrian street full of shops. The hotel is perfect as a base for walking to numerous places of interest, restaurants and tapas bars.
There is no parking at Larios, so you have to park at the Room Mate Lola which is about a 5 min. walk.
The room we had was airy and very comfortable with windows overlooking the Larios street; a lot of noice though due to location comes from the pedestrian street, but when our balcony doors were shut you could not hear a thing.
The staff was very helpful and courteous and very well informed of their city.

We stayed in Room Mate Larios for two nights whilst visiting Malaga. The hotel is central to everything. It is clean, modern and funky. The staff are really friendly and helpful. There is a roof top bar which has fabulous views over the city. I would highly recommend this hotel, we had it for a great price with Expedia.

Aside from being in an excellent location, this hotel is not what I would even call decent. I see several positive reviews and am glad that someone enjoyed their stay. However my experience at Larios could be the inspiration for another Griswold family vacation. The parking is about six blocks from the hotel in a sketchy area. The entrance to the hotel is through a marvelous pedestrian area that is great for people watching, strolling and shopping. The reception area was redolent of a basement DMV office complete with a vacant clerk who seemed more interested in a phone conversation than receiving hotel guests. The dining area and had a nice art deco decor which is all it had going for it. Our room was not clean, it smelled of cigarette smoke complements of the neighbors. The bed was uncomfortable, the pillows flat, and the sheets were made of burlap. Positives were the bathroom was roomy and nicely appointed, and we had a great view of the plaza from the room. Aside from being in a great location to walk around Malaga, this hotel needs makeover, the one night we spent there was more than enough.

Room Tip: find another hotel

Tom at the front desk was amazing! My husband and I were driving from Granada and everything was great till we got lost trying to find the hotel. There is no parking at Laris, so we had to park at the Lola which is about a 10min walk. Long story short if it wasn't for Tom guiding us to the Lola to park the car, we were ready to get another room closer to the airport. Our only complaint is the hotel needs to have a service to get travelers to & from each hotel. We had to walk to the Lola at 5:30am and got lost. If is wasn't for the street cleaners helping us get to the Lola we might not have made our flight. The Lola isn't in the best area compared to the Laris. Again, we really appreciate Tom's patience and making our stay a very nice place to visit again, only if we don't have a car...

Room Tip: Don't have a car if you stay at the Laris.

Dear Kimaf,

Thank you for your kind words towards Tom... he is definitely a superb receptionist, no doubt about it!.
As for the parking in Lola, we always hand in a map to the client, marking where is each hotel... if you cross to the other side of Alameda Principal, and follow Larios St, this is it... Larios is right at the end... by your experience I understand that you took the side streets, pedestrian and very confusing if you are not resident!...
I am sorry for that... If you finally made it, good for you!!.

Again, thank you for your review!

This is a hotel that does what it says on the can! No frills .pool or sundeck but probably the best location in Malaga if you want to step out of the front door and be in the centre of the tourist area of the city with all the restaurants and bars within a stones throw. Good rooms .......clean and reasonable size and all you could need in a bathroom. We did not have breakfast in hotel as prefer to go out and be in the action to eat so cannot comment on that . Reception staff could be a bit more welcoming also but reasonably efficient so no complaints

Room Tip: ask for one facing Calle Larios so watch Paseo

This lovely hotel is perfectly located in the historic centre and near all the main sights - eg the cathedral, the Picasso Museum and the castle. It is at the end of an elegant, bustling, pedestrianised street full of shops and cafes. There is an attractive plaza at one side of the hotel which can be seen from the breakfast room. The room we had was airy and very comfortable - we slept very well. It had a small balcony overlooking the street - very nice to watch the world go by from. The breakfast room was a charming place to sit but the breakfast was limited and not always well stocked - I would recommend only having the hotel breakfast if it is included in the price. There are plenty of good cafes, ice-cream parlours and restaurants nearby - and we liked the vegetarian "vegetaiano el calafate"in Andres Perez. The hotel is easy to reach from the airport - take the 'A' bus to the end of the road = it takes about half an hour and stops 5 minutes from the hotel.

Dear Francesca35,

Thank you for your VERY positive review, truly to say, Larios is located in the very heart of the city!.

As for breakfast, it is standardised, basic, simple & healthy!... but no excuse for short-stocked, I will pass your comments on to the hotel staff.

See you next time round!
