“Great hostel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2011

I stayed at Oasis Malaga when I was visiting a friend in the city. On first thoughts, it was quite difficult to find and I arrived late at night so that had sort of put me off. However when I eventually arrived at the hostel, the staff were extremely friendly and would do anything they could to help. This is the first I have ever stayed in a hostel, and has exceeded my expectations in every way. The rooms are very nice. Very comfortable beds. The bathrooms in the dorms too are very clean and I was very surprised to come in to such a modern and clean hostel. Not what I expected. There was always loads to do. From the walking tour with the tour guide which was very interesting, to simply sitting in the bar at the hostel talking to other travellers. The city itself offers loads. Be sure to visit "El Pimpi/Bodega bar" near the alcazaba. Very nice food and great value for money. Also the tapas bar which is very near the hostel offers lovely food. My only gripe is that all the rooms were mixed sex, and I think I would have preferred the option of female only dorm, as a solo traveller it was slightly off putting.
Overall friendly hostel and staff!

Friendly service at arrival, everything was explained. Hostel has a bar which is open untill 1 in the night! Rooms look like new. Good beds. Quiet no but which hostel in the centre is. Nice free walking tour organised as evening dinner for 5 euro.

The only thing i can comment is that they dont have rooms for only women or men, which i found a disadvantage and they did not have bike rental yet.

A place to come back....

My friend and I were coming from the airport, so be warned that at least from that location the hostel is some what difficult to find. But once found the mini adventure was well worth. Staff, accomidations everything is great. We went on the walking tour and tapas tour with Andrew and it was educational and delicious. Brownie pts for Andrew a great tour guide and cool mate.

Oasis is pretty well located, in the centre, just one minute from the main square and fifteen minutes walking to the beach.
My room was number 2, a six-beds one on the groundfloor. The mattresses are new, and so are the sheets and pillows.. The bathrooms (and rooms as well) are clean at all times.
The hostel has a little patio on the ground and a big roof on the top, both places to have lunch or dinner, or to chill and have a chat or a drink with other people.

Passengers get a free welcome drink (which can be beer, coke or the Spanish "tinto de verano", which is wine with lemon Fanta and fruits). The bar is open during the evenings until late.
Breakfast is also included on the price (cereal, milk,, and coffee and tea which are available 24h a day). There are two kitchens fully equipped for you to cook, which - even if to go "de tapas" is such a lovely experience, saves you lots of money.

The hostel offers:

- free-walking tour, everyday at 11.30, that is something not many hostels have and that I liked.
- Pub Crawl every single day at midnight, where you pay 10 euros and you go to many bars and party places, guided by an expert and sharing beers, wines and shots with others.
- not every night but most of them, the hostel has Dinner Parties, where you pay five euros and you get a suculent plate of home-made food just cooked.

If you need to get online, you have four computers with speed internet access.

Other thing I liked is that the hostel is run by all young people, from the manager to the barman, which creates a young atmosphere all the time.

I just stayed there for a night, but I had a lot of fun.
I met lots of people and spent the evening at the hostel's bar and at the rooftop patio. The atmosphere was really nice there.
I would definitly recommend it for backpackers.

Other things I liked:
Nice common areas to hang out / meet people (entrance, rooftop, courtyard)
Free internet (3 PCs and WiFi)
Kitchen with cooking equipment
Friendly staff
Dorms were quite spaceous with fridge and bathroom
Everything looked quite new / Inventory was in a good condition

Recently spent 2 nights here upon arriving in Spain.

The location is good, right in the city centre close to everything of interest. There's a rooftop terrace and a ground floor outside seating area. Breakfast (cereal, bread and spreads) is self service and included in the price. There's wi fi and computers for those without their own.

The staff were all friendly and helpful and I was made to feel welcome. I took the free walking tour with Aussie Andrew who was knowledgeable about Málaga and it's history.

I stayed in dorm 6 which was at the back next to the stairs. The first night was one of the worst night's sleep of my life. People were screaming and shouting all night. Also someone kept turning on the lights out back so the dorm would light up and wake me (if I wasn't awake already from the noise.) I felt the staff could have done more to keep this under control. People tramping up and down the stairs made matters worse - there's a sign stating that you should use the lift at night but most did not observe this. All this would have been worse if I hadn't had ear plugs! The second night was a bit better with less noise but lights being turned on outside was still a problem. Someone who was staying in a dorm towards the front told me they didn't have any problem so make sure you get a room that's not at the back.
