We were thrilled and delighted to view this fine collection of art in downtown Malaga, spending the better part of a day in the process. It is the best representation of paintings by artists who lived and worked in this part of Spain, particularly Andalucia, during the last few centuries, and as such it gives the viewer an excellent pictorial record of Spanish history. The paintings are carefully arranged, tastefully displayed in appropriate groupings, in large perfectly lit rooms.
This magnificent art museum is located in the former Palace of Villalon, a building that was constructed in the 16th century , and that has been renovated to meet modern construction codes and standards. The design layout of this facility is logical and impressive. One is struck by the beautiful surroundings and the ability to overlook the delicate courtyard surrounded by massive ancient stone walls.
Do not miss this exceptionally fine art collection. It is well worth your time. The cafe is modern, well designed, and there is ample comfortable seating. It is perfect for discussion and reflection; an attractive spot to enjoy good food and excellent coffee.
