“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

I have reviewed this restaurant twice before and we have visited a few times in the intervening period; there has been absolutely no drop-off in standards which remain excellent. It is in an unexpected location for a fine restaurant, but well worth the trip. Last time we had the 'tasting menu' which contained some superb and intense flavours and which we all thoroughly recommend. Again they did not push us to have expensive wines, and the rose that we chose on a warm day was a good accompaniment to the menu. The tasting menu is €40 and so a bill came to just under €50 a head which I think very good value for food and service at this level. It would probably be at least double in the South-East of England, and in the prosperous Cathedral city where we live in England, you would not find food of this quality anywhere. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

“OUTSTANDING”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

You are unlikely to find this wonderful restaurant unless you know it or it is recommended but boy is it worth finding!!
In Javier you have the perfect host who will talk you through all the food and drink options with interest and huge amounts of passion. We went in a party of four and ate from the "tasting menu" which was modified to adapt to one non-meat eater-it is not cheap at 40 euro per head but is worth every cent. The wine cellar is superb and I really enjoyed browsing the bottles before making a choice-with Javier's help of course.
All the staff are amazing, helpful and knowledgeable, lastly don't leave without having a gin a tonic, simply awesome !!

“Try it for yourself”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

We went as a party of four for lunch..
Good points. Nice restaurant, intimate, Wonderful host and a lovely welcome.Food beautifully cooked.
Minus points. Two of our guests wanted their meat well done, they were advised this would make the meat tough, so they compromised on having the meat medium. Duck and Beef in question. Too underdone for their liking. No vegetables available with the main dish, even of a plain variety, let alone any creative offerings. If you want to smoke you have to go outside and have a smoke on the steps to the entrance to the restaurant, no table or a chair to sit on, even though there is a large terrace area.
If you are rich and are not too hungry when you go it is a delightful experience.
Starters good, but mains overpriced and minimum of meat and fish served for the mains. The Degustacion menu which we did not try is 40 euros a head and maybe worth a try for a special occasion.
Our bill 35 euros a head for 2 starters, four mains, one dessert and a bottle of wine,

“The best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

We went as a small family party of 3 on Xmas Day for lunch (our third visit). Once again we chose the degustation menu which was fantastic...........we started with super fresh French oysters. I love the fact that you know you are going to get amazing fresh, seasonal food cooked and presented wonderfully. We placed our wine choices firmly in the very capable hands of Javier the owner......excellent. Javier has a real passion for vino and has a very interesting and I might add, delicious cellar. The atmosphere was wonderful - so very friendly and warm (thats the people).....warm also from the lovely wood burning stove that is so rare in any Spanish bar/restaurant in this area. Well done guys for another fabulous lunch (and day in this case!) Can't wait to return...soon.
