“Amazing (considering its free)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

There isn't much of the actual amphitheater left, but the museum makes up for it with some very informative displays.

“Beautifull at night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

The best of it that it's free. The surrounding location is great at night, especially the bar in front of the theater, where you can have a good meal while enjoying a good glass of wine.

“Free!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

This Roman Theatre excavation is right beside the Alcabazar. Admission is free or you can see it from the street. While nothing like as impressive of eg Ephesus, you still get the feel of Malaga as being a very ancient and important settlement for all kinds of people through the ages.

“Ticketless Seating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

Nestling at the foot of the Alcazaba are the ruins of the Roman Amphitheatre which predate the Arabic Fortress/Palace by a thousand years. Although one can see quite well into the ruins from the boundary fence surrounding them in the Plaza Alcazar, it is better to go amongst the ruins to best get the feel of the theatre. Entrance is via the building to the left of the amphi-theatre. Entry is normally free and there is are informative displays inside the building. Visit time; probably no more than 30 minutes.
Don’t forget to have a look down through the glass pyramid in the square (Plaza) where you can see some more Roman ruins below and if you have the time, the entrance to the Alcazaba is but a few yards away on the edge of the square. I would suggest that you allow yourself a couple of hours, minimum, to explore the Alcazaba.
Note: There are some interesting cafes and restaurants in the Plaza Alcazar that we will be investigating in the next couple of months.
