“Decent stay at a good price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

Upon arrival in Malaga, I stayed here for 1 night. It's a decent basic hotel. You have to take the bus or taxi from the airport, it's located on a main road. The bus is 2 Eur and is the first stop once you leave the airport, about 5 min. The bus stop is at the pedestrian blue bridge, walk across the bridge - you will see the Holiday Inn Express. The hotel refunds the 2 Eur with receipt from the bus.

The hotel is fairly new. There is virtually nothing(restaurants, shops) for a tourist within a short walk but the bus stop is in front. As a Platinum elite, I was given complimentary wifi and a glass of wine. Very nice touch! The breakfast is quite decent - cereals, yogurt, cheese, meat, breads, fruit, coffee, juice.

It's a good enough choice in Malaga and you earn Priority Club points.

We read a lot of reviews before staying at this hotel, and we kind of laughed at them, saying, "Man people really like to complain. We'll have no problems." Turns out that while we didn't have anything terrible happen, many of their complaints were quite valid. For starters, the difficult to find part was definitely true. We stayed here for one night because we had a 6:30am flight and it was the only option near enough the airport for us to get a few hours of sleep before flying out. We walked from the airport after taking the train from downtown Malaga, because, come on, 20 euros from the airport is just insane. It's like half of a mile away! You have to walk along the a busy road, but it's fine in daylight. There were definitely lots of water stains in the hallways carpeting from the showers, but I didn't seem to have a problem not creating a puddle when showering, so maybe they've fixed that issue and just haven't changed the carpets. The walls are paper-thin. Really. Paper thin. I could hear the person having a phone conversation at 10pm like he was sitting next to me, which was both weird and pretty annoying when you are trying to get some sleep before a flight. Our 6:30am flight required us to get to the airport at 4:30am the next morning, so we paid the 15 euro taxi fare to get us back to the airport, which is SUCH a rip-off, but I practically heard my mother's voice in the back of my head saying "Don't walk along a highway in the dark - just pay for the taxi!" He actually tried to charge 16, but I said "The hotel told us it was 15" and he accepted 15. Wi-fi isn't normally free, but just sign up for Priority Club Rewards online before you go and show them your member number and they will give you the username and password to use it for free, so that was simple. The front desk people were perfectly nice, but basically I feel that the hotel is just relaxing in their mediocrity because they can. They don't have to run a shuttle service to the airport because they have no competition. For the same reason, taxis charge 15/20 euros for the half mile trip: because they can. Am I going to spend my days dreaming about the wonderful stay at this hotel and wondering when I can go back? Definitely not. Is my life ruined from staying here? No, not at all. It was fine, but I think hotels should strive for a bit better than just fine.

Room Tip: Sign up for priority club rewards before going to be able to utilize the free wifi

This hotel represents good value. The room and the complimentary breakfast were more than adequate. My wife and I had no problem at all with the staff, who we found polite and helpful. When we first entered our room it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, even though it was a no smoking room. The receptionist Linda was only too happy to give us a room move. Yes the hotel is fairly difficult to find the first time, but after you have found it once it was very easy. We stayed for 7 days using the hotel as a base for exploring the countryside and were not disappointed. Due to the location, you definitely need your own transport. Only criticism is that the bed was hard.

Good value, rooms good, good breakfast included, friendly staff. Advertised as an airport hotel, yes it is very close to the airport and perfect for an overnight stay on the way BACK to the airport, BUT to access it FROM the airport it's necessary to travel a couple of km up the dual carriageway, over a flyover and do a u-turn at traffic lights and come back towards the airport, so its really 4 or 5 km away and quite tricky to get to in the dark after a flight and in a new hire car. Not ideal. Will stay somewhere else next time.

The staff at the desk was unfriendly and seemed annoyed when asked for anything. Earlier in the night I complained that our room was too hot and they didn't seem to care. At 11pm we had to leave the room with our 10yr old because none of us could sleep. They gave us another room but they were not helpful.
Right beside the airport which is great and the room was clean. Lobby was good and we had supper in the restaurant which was convenient.

Room Tip: small rooms but clean. No pool.

The hotel is ok for a 1 night stop but only if you know where to find it. We spent over an hour looking for it driving backwards and forwards around Malaga. At night it is hidden away with no visible signage for the hotel. The reception and the bar were good but the bar is basically an extension of the reception. The room was very clean and the same for the bathroom.
