“Worth visiting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2012

A stones throw away from the Malaga bullring.
Good friendly atmosphere created with friendly staff and cosy location.
There is a large bar area and small seating area for a drink with tapas or there is a large seated restaurant to the rear of the building.
Good chilled beer on tap, try the Bonito salad and cured cheese to start with. There a great small meat kebabs, the Flaminquin is a must, also fish in a spinach and cream sauce is excellent,if you are still peckish there are great fried fishes and amazing croquettes. The house wines are an easy choice with good boquests with both reds and whites.Every day there is a special dish such as stews, rice dishes etc.
All dishes are good value for money.

“Comida Fantastica!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2011

Excellent tapas, fresh fish and the best Rabo de Toro we have had in Spain. The media raccione was plenty to share! Beautiful Andalucian decor and convenitently located in the Urban Central district. Good value!

“This place made our last night out in Malaga”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2011

The receptionist in our hotel recommended a different restaurant, but the taxi driver misunderstood us and brought us to his location. Lucky us!

I do not know where to start - the waiter was very polite and recommended good food, and not simply the most expensive items on the menu. The aperitif and the wines were very tasty, the starter (croquettes, clams) superb, the main course and the dessert were very good. I tried the sea bass baked in salt, which was tender and delicious.

I loved the atmosphere, which is busy, but not overcrowded at all. There were Spanish families, groups and few other tourists. In sum, we were very satisfied and have no points criticise at all (and I am German).

“Go there ... an authentic restaurant ... off the tourist track”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2011

We were in Malaga to celebrate my wife's birthday and had two evening dinners at La Mensula. A good intimate atmosphere. Friendly efficient service, excellent food - complmentary tasty appetiser, then take the waiter's advice and share a starter - Iberian Platter was excellent - main meat dishes we had (steak and pork) were very good tender meat, ccoked and served well. The house Roija was good as was the complemenary after dinner chilled local liquor. Much better ambience and quality than tourist trail restaurants but a little more expensive - total bill for two with shared starter, 2 mains and wine 70 Euros. Enjoy!
