“Fantastic hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

We stayed here in August 2013. After touring Spain for two weeks we decided some much needed luxury was needed and booked to stay for 5 nights. The hotel itself is amazing, the attention to detail within as well as the landscaping outside was beautiful, I was thrilled to see terrapins, frogs and fish in natural streams.
Be aware that this hotel is within walking distance to nearby restaurants but it takes approx. 40 minutes. Buses run twice per hour but even after 5 days we could not tell what time to expect them as they seemed to not follow a timetable.
If you are on a budget this is probably not the place for you, if you wish to eat in the restaurants or drink in the bars it is very very expensive. We chose to go into the town each evening but as mentioned transport was an issue. On the day we arrived we bought lunch, 3 sandwiches, 2 cokes and a coffee and it cost us approx 50 euros which we simply could not afford to eat each day. Instead we chose to buy food from local supermarket (bus ride away) and kept it in our room.
Even though the food was expensive, the service, the room and the relaxed ambiance of the hotel enabled us to fully unwind after out travels. On arrival we were issued with a day pass into the spa area. This was a real treat, I have never been in a spa like it, at least 20 different water massages and various steam rooms/saunas to sit in. Absolutely fantastic.

Positives: Spa, design, service, rooms, close to beautiful beach
Negatives: Expensive, far away from restaurants, transport

We stayed at Barcelo Sancti Petri for a weekend and it was fabulous. The rooms are trendy and spacious, very clean, and the facilities of the hotel are great. Right by the beach, very nice atmosphere both at the hotel and in the area. Don't miss restaurant EL Timon in Roche (there's a little road to the right of the hotel that takes you straight to Roche in just a few minutes, without going back to the main road!). Great staff, we highly recommend Barcelo Sancti Petri.

We stayed at this hotel this summer and it was an excellent place to go with children because of the apartments with direct exit to the big garden and the swimming pools, so you can be confident that the children are amusing and in a safe and closed space, and no disturbing. You have 5 swimming pools, one of them with adult only access (more quiet and no disturbing).
Access to the beach semi-private and very close to the hotel. Children activities every day.

Room Tip: If you travel with children, an apartment in the ground floor is better because you have direc exit...

The decoration is modern and the global structure is nice.
The rooms are wide and well decorated.
Wifi it's free but only can use for receive mails, not much more...Works slowly.
The Spa is good as well as the gymnasium.
The water on the swimming pool is quite cold. What a pitty for the children...
-Food, really huge quantity of food in low quality, and some people on the staff on the restaurant got no idea of cooking. If you go, at night got barbecue, this is nice...
The idea is big quantity of food in low quality.
-Towels, is very rare find ready towels on the swimming pool area, but they got them on the Lobby, is crazy...
-They're workers are nice people, always ready to ear, and they listen our complaints kindly, but the solution...?
It's just a 5 star hotel, but one star is falling down...
We did a mistake, we choose this hotel instead of Melia Sancti Petri. It's more expensive, but I can sacrifice one or 2 days less here.

We stayed at this Hotel during our trip to Spain and what can I say truly excellent. First class service attention and rooms. Breakfast is fantastic buffet style with everything you could think of you will find. We visited the Spa as this was included in our package and had a perfect afternoon. Well done keep up the good work.

Frame of reference: I stayed there as an American with my wife and 2 young kids. We've stayed at similar resorts in the Caribbean. This was the nicest one - best finishing details on the grounds and in the rooms. 5* for the Americas (and definitely for Europe).

Positives: Food is the best I've had at an all-inclusive (drinks extra). Lots of variety each day. Lots of good Andulicían food, including fresh seafood and fruit. Beds better than most in Europe and we had real American king bed. 5 pools, waterfalls, gorgeous grounds - you can walk barefoot everywhere outside. The pool temp was nice if a tad cool in the morning by American standards even though the air temp was 34 (93) in the afternoon. Unlike many hotels in this category in the Caribbean, there were plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas, so that was very nice. No cabanas. The beach is nearby and has pretty nice soft sand, frequently a tidal pool which is nice for young kids.

Negatives: 4 of the 5 pools were off limits for kids. (Guess this is a positive if you're a couple without kids.) 4 out of the 5 restaurants on the property were off limits on the all-inclusive meal plan. This is a big negative. The one restaurant, which was big enough and had nice food, had limited outdoor seating for dinner, even less for breakfast and none for lunch. Meanwhile the other restaurants close to the pool or beach have lots of outdoor tables but few people use them because they cost extra. Rip off. The beach is a 150 m walk down about 150 steps 100m high. This is true for all the resorts in this area, I think. But the hotel should maintain some presence on the beach and offer towels, chairs, drink service, etc. Speaking of drink service, there really wasn't much at all. You could go to a bar an order something, but hardly any poolside waiters. They had a kids club which you could drop the kids off for a program, but it was only available for kids ages 6 and up.

Overall, though, we had a great stay.

We stayed here 2 nights in July with friends who booked it online thinking it was beach front. It does face the beach but you must leave the hotel grounds to go down a walkway to the public beach. The grounds are very nice but July was just too hot to even do pool side. The rooms are very nice. Service was helpful. Food was just average. If you head in this direction by train don't get off at Cadiz (50min/52euro cab). Get off at San Bernadino (15m/20euro) For rooms 317 had a huge patio overlooking ocean, great sunsets and direct access to pools, gardens.
