This is a fantastic place. The pictures on their website are not misleading - it is a very attractive old English style farmhouse set in gardens on a cattle and cork farm in a national park. There is a messiness about the place that makes it feel endearingly and comfortably genuine. Have no fear for authenticity: when you can see the Rock from the garden there is no contradiction in being in an English Andalucian homestead. The Spanish context is never in question with the big-horned cattle, pairs of storks who walk the lawns in the morning and nest all around, and the garden that overgrows with the warm weather (and reminded me more than a little of South Africa.)
The two apartments in the main house are very big and feel like a visit to an great aunt's house in the english countryside.
The English/Spanish family lives there and in the various houses around the farm. We found them very kind and helpful. (We also went with our four year old son who enjoyed playing with the many children.)
The place is very close to Algeciras and the main road is less than five minutes away. You don't notice this at all when at the farm, but it is a big advantage for mundane things like shopping for provisions, finding a good fish restaurant (ask for recommendations) and for access to the motorway if you're going zoom off to explore the area.
Monte de la Torre probably won't suit the kind of people who enjoy hygeinic minimalism, but that's why this is a niche. There aren't many places to stay like this.
