“Stunning hotel great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

My wife and I spent a lovely night at this Parador in late July 2013. I have stayed in a few Paradors in various towns and cities in Andalucia.
From my experience they are mostly in old historic buildings.
Well the Parador de Cadiz is not. It is in a Ultra modern building , which is almost stark in its appearance. However, this is by no means a critisism.
I parked our car in the car park in the basemanet and then checked in, which went very smoothly.
Our room which was ultra modern in keeping with the rest of the hotel was quite stunning.
The room had both a deep sunken marble bath and a walk in wet room. Both were fantastic.
The rooms come with the usual International Satellite TV and WIFI access.
The hotel also has a stunninng pool which is very close to the beach.
If I have a criticism of the room , it is one of perhaps a room lacking a little in privacy.
The rooms have floor to ceiling windows, these give fantastic views to the sea. However, as I noticed the following morning, when your neighbours in the adjoining rooms stand on their balconies they can see right into your room. They can see your bed and almost into your bathroom. There are blinds off course but closing these obscures the stunning view.
This criticism is a minor point and I would not let it pt you off.
The hotel is well situated in the old town and around 5 minutes walk to the tapas bars and restaurants that will blow you away.
If you are going to Cadiz in my opinion this is the place to stay

We ended our tour of Southern Spain at this hotel and what a great choice! Everything has been covered in other reviews. The infinity pool is fantastic and the soaking pool with chaises was an excellent was to cool off after site-seeing in the July heat. Do not be scared off by the price. IT IS WORTH EVERY EURO.

We stayed for just one night whilst travelling around the area.
The rooms are beautifully done, ultra modern and very comfortable. Definitely the quietest hotel room I've slept in. Everything else has been covered by other reviews. Our only issue was that when I booked (at the last minute) the only option was half board, so we had dinner in the ground floor restaurant. We were disappointed with the standard of the food, it was just o.k. My husband had solomillo (pork tenderloin) which was dry, so he sent it back just to have another one exactly the same brought straight away. They were obviously all pre-cooked and reheated. The puddings which were 6 euros plus were poor. Standards need to be improved, particularly for the prices they are charging.

Perfect location, walking distance to almost everything!!!!! Nice modern hotel. Nice rooms and amazing bath tub!! Loved the balcony.

On the other side: poor service at breakfast, the poor waitors were completely overworked, took forever to clear tables and to be served coffee... Asked one of the waitors if the cheese was pasturized (since I was pregnant), he said all cheeses in Spain were required to be pasturized nowadays (which is not true) and didn't bother checking. Well, as I said, they were overworked. So I mostly had marmelade for breakfast, no big deal really, but would have been nice with some variation.
Ice cold swimming pool!! (You cannot use it...)

We have just returned from four nights at this hotel and we had a lovely relaxing time. The room was fabulous we couldn't fault it at all and we had a good view over the pools and out to the sea from the third floor. The breakfast was also great with loads of choice and fully stocked all the time. The pool was a must in Cadiz for us and it was lovely and quiet. It was in a good location in the old town and very close to the seafront. We took a bus one evening to the new town and were pleased we had chosen to stay at the Parador as the location was much nicer than those we saw in the new town.

Had a wonderful week here in July with my wife. We got given a great room on the seventh floor, which had fantastic views over the city and bay.

Room itself was really nice, big bath and shower, with a huge balcony.

Great breakfast, loads of options, and then settle next to the pool with a good book.

One thing I would say is the evening menu appeared to be quite expensive, and not a great range of dishes.

But don't worry, go to the nearby Casa Manteca for some ice cold sherry and some great meat and cheese or Freiduria Las Flores for some fresh fish. You'll love it.

The Parador has been renewed and is now sleek and modern. It is also a very large property with most rooms with ocean views. It stands out on the skyline and is the best place to stay while in Cadiz. Although check in was very slow and not organized, we were given a very comfortable and pretty room on the 5th floor with a great ocean/park view. The terrace is minimalistic with a table and chairs and a lot of glass. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom is adequate with good water pressure, but the sinks are really small and water gets splashed everywhere. The room has many lighting options, which was kind of neat in that you could have cool lights in the bathroom and private lights for reading at the bedside. Most doors within the room are sliding glass and there are transparent shades that cover the windows - so if you need darkness in the morning, forget about it - you are awoken with a beautiful and bright sunrise. Hence, no alarm clock is needed!

We had lunch and breakfast on the 2nd floor terrace restaurant. The area is very large, but the best part is the terrace as it is covered and has beautiful open air views of the ocean and the San Cristobal castle to the left. The food is buffet with many options for everyone. We were not disappointed with the choices nor the quality - we enjoyed both of these meals very much.

Customer service was pleasant, but as I mentioned, check in was very slow and not as efficient as it should have been. Service seemed to drag and it appeared that some details were lacking. For example, when we checked in at 12:45 there was a seating area with a large table right across from reception. The table was full of used dishes and such from the breakfast run. We left the hotel and returned several hours later and those same dishes were there. I asked the front desk attendant as to why those dishes were still out after so many hours. Her response was that they are just too busy and there was not enough staff to collect them. As there was no one checking in I asked her why she did not call the kitchen or try to get a cart and at least remove the dishes herself. He response was that that was not her job.

All in all, the location is great right on the beach and close to the San Sebastian castle where many cultural events take place. Walking right out of the hotel one can stroll, people watch, have tapas and watch the sunset. We enjoyed our stay and would return.

Room Tip: The higher the better.
