“The warmest welcome in Cordoba”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

A huge thank you to the wonderful couple whom run this lovely restauant. The food is prepared from the freshest ingredients and served with the greatest passion. The owners could give lessons to other restauranters, long may they continue to please their diners.

“Exceptional experience thanks for Antonio and Maria!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

We had dinner here 2 of our 3 nights in Cordoba. The food and service were phenomenal both evenings. The first night we started with the tomato and tuna appetizer, very good. Then came the rabbit, a house speciality, and this dish completely blew us away, so much so we ordered a full ration to enjoy our second visit. We also had the Rabo de Toro, the bull's tail stew and my 9 year old proclaimed this dish her favorite, even after we explained to her what she had just eaten. Maria is an amazing cook and Antonio is a wonderful host and waiter. Do not miss going to their restaurant if you are in Cordoba and do not miss ordering the Conejo (Rabbit) dish especially. Bravo Maria and Antonio!

“Excellent food and exceptional service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

We visited this Taberna for breakfast one morning and were so impressed with the service and quality of the food, we decided to go back for dinner one evening. This proved to be a good decision because we once again came out smiling - the service was impeccable, the food, excellent, and the cleanliness and attention to detail cannot be faulted.

The waiter/front man - I assume Antonio Moreno Luque - is passionate about Spanish food and culture, and whilst I know little Spanish, we managed to communicate as he spoke clearly enough for me to understand. He was also welcoming and friendly without being pushy or overly attentive - he had his trade down to a fine art.

A lovely touch to end the meal was the homemade, fragrant biscuit and glass of locally produced Montilla (Pedre Ximinez), a kind of aperitif, which was given to us on the house.

If you are looking for a traditional, quality Spanish tapas experience, go to Taberna Luque/Cafe Taberna El Chef (not sure what it is called!).

“I want to go back....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013 via mobile

We got lucky, 1 meal in cordoba and it was one of the best for some time...anywhere. Fresh hot bread and tasty crackers, lovely house wine, and Vichy Catalan all got things off to a good start on a sweltering day after sightseeing around cordoba. Then came the food. Waiter (Antonio based on the other reviews?) was very friendly and helpful and was able to communicate with him despite my bad Spanish. We had prawns(hot tasty and plentiful), then the spinach, egg and mushroom revuelto, which for me was top notch. Then the rabbit... Yummy yummy. Then the calamari and lastly the chorizo, both very nice. Complementary (very) sweet biscuits came with very good coffees. I want to go back to this place which we almost missed at the top of the road as the name was a bit different to advertised. Honestly, one of the best meals we've had...ever. For 50 quid??

“Recommended.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013 via mobile

Just had a great lunch here based On the excellent reviews on TripAdvisor. Was definitely not disappointed - service was faultless, our waiter Antonio was attentive, caring and very helpful with advising us on Appetisers and mains. Must try dishes include the 'rabbit with garlic', which had wonderful flavours and was very tender. The fried whitebait was perfectly cooked, tasty and not greasy. We also had the lettuce heart salad, which was very good and refreshing on a hot day. Extremely reasonable prices, as we had three courses per person plus wine, breadbasket and olives, and a hot chocolate, and spent 48 euros. Antonio also gave us some local liquor to try, which tasted a lot like honey - delicious . Very different from your normal tourist fare in Spain (in a good way) , so if you want a taste of Cordoba with welcoming and friendly service, give this place a try.
