“Right off the city historic center”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

I got to spend a day with my family during our Xtmas vacation. The hotel is not the best but it is cheap, clean, and just 5 minutes of the historic center. The ratio price/quality is really good.

The hotel offers breakfast buffet (continental and American). Make sure to order it the night before to get 50% discount.

Handily located a short taxi ride from the railway station, this makes a very convenient and reasonably priced place to visit the old part of Cordoba. All the main sites as only 5-10 minutes walk away. Have stayed here twice and would do so again.

We stayed for 3 nights in this hotel located on the edge of the old town and within easy walking distance of the railway station. Breakfast was of high quality with plenty of choice and included freshly squeezed orange juice. The hotel was spotlessly clean; our room was comfortable and included a large balcony. Wifi was free at all times - it was just a case of getting a new password each day from reception.
There was just one drawback - and that was the awful sewage/bad drain smell in our bathroom (Room 311). Clearly this is something that management is aware of but not remedied, as there was an overpowering smell of disinfectant when we first checked into our room. However, this did not mask the bad smell for long.
If it hadn't been for the smell I would have rated this hotel 4 out of 5.

The Califa Hotel is easy to reach by car using your city map and has a garage ( € 14 p.d.), which is really necessary in the old city centres of Andalusia. The location is just perfect to reach all the main points of interest (the Mesquita, the Alcázar with the most beautiful gardens, the former Jewish quarter etc.) The hotel could do with a make over, but if you don't care to much about design, it gives value for money. We stayed for two days and had the luck to witness some typical Spanish holy processions for the Virgin of Rocio. One in the evening with candle lights and hundreds of horses and their riders.

We stayed one night (a Monday) at the NH Califa in Cordoba.

We arrived by train and it's a steady 10-15 minute walk from Cordoba Central to the hotel.

Check-in went smoothly and the receptionist spoke good English (which was good as we spoke very little Spanish !).

Our room was on the 1st Floor and overlooked the road. We had a bath in the en-suite but no tea/coffee facilities.

The rooms was reasonably large with a traditional Spanish tiled floor. The double bed was huge.

The bath taps were located in the centre of the bath - rather than at the foot of the bath. This made it somewhat difficult to get in and incredibly difficult to get out as there was a rigid shower screen on the other side if the bath.

We heard very little noise in the room. None at all from the outside but some (at 5am) from the room next door when two men returned !

Breakfast was served - buffet style. The usual continental fayre of croissants, cereals, tea, juices, ham, cheese etc.

The hotel is a few minutes walk to the main shopping area. About 5 minutes from the old town and roughly ten minutes to the river.

No major complaints and we would return if in Cordoba.

We arrived in Cordoba by train and the Califa is walking distance from the station, and a very easy walk from the old town. It's a comfortable place to stay and there are bars and small restaurants close by butt it has a bit of a budget hotel feel. The place seemed clean and well presented. Staff were ok. It's in a side street which was unexpectedly busy with traffic during the day. Traffic wasn't a problem but we were conscious of some noise in early mornings. In my experience, this is definitely at the more basic end of the NH hotels range but I think it's probably priced accordingly.

NH Califa is in an excellent location, a short walk through the Jewish Quarter to the Old City and the Grand Mosque. There are several good moderately priced restaurants in the vicinity providing to a variety of tastes. The train and Bus stations are close by for day trips to several locations like Granada and Seville. There are several places where Flamenco dancers can be seen performing. The staff were courteous and efficient.
