“Loud hotel noises and smell of sulfur in the bathroom ruined the stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2011 via mobile

The hotel is a very nice hotel licated right next to the cathedral, however our stay was ruined by loud noises of people dragging furniture across the floor above us at 8am for an hour and the smell of sulfur that the shower gave off. The sulfur smell was actually alarming and suffocating but the hotel staff was unconcerned when we told them. My friend decided to forgo showering all together rather than deal with the smell that appeared after I showered. We had to open the terrace window and the hall door in an effort to get the smell to go away.

If we hadn't gotten this hotel for such a bargain because of our last minute booking, I would definitely be upset about our stay. As it is, we paid only $69 euro so I'm not too upset. Still, I'd recommend you try some other place rather than this faux luxury hotel.

Absolutely THE best location in Cordoba, Directly opposite one of the the entrances to the Mezquita. Which you must NOT miss, it is stunning, photos do not show you the scale. My advice would be to try to have a guided tour because there is so much you would miss if you try to do it on your own. Also try to have a guided walking tour of the old city. We were also there for the Patios and the city was very busy, you must be aware of the gypsies and pickpockets who are there in abundance. Comfy shoes are essential!!!! The hotel is only 3 stars but very clean, comfortable beds, helpful staff, breakfast good, whole deal excellent value for money. The hotel have a few parking spaces but they charge for them.

The hotel was well situated opposite the Mezquita but the support staff were unfriendly and on our first night we waited at the bar while they served the Spanish and ignored us standing at the front of the counter. We then asked for a white wine instead of the red that was on the table already and was told not possible, our tour guide had to organise it for us with the Manager and we had no choice of food. My room was on the ground floor and I could not open my curtains as there were no nets, parties of people were passing my window and it was also opposite a shop doorway. I could not open my wardrobe door fully as the bedside table was obstructing it which meant that I could not open the draws inside the wardrobe at all.

My pet peeve is a hotel that advertizes free internet and it doesn't work! That what happened the first day. To be fair, the hotel is the same corporation as Hotel Conquistador and you can use you laptop over there. they also fix it that night.

The location is right outside the Mosque. The room was good by European standards. I would not get one of the rooms facing the Mosque....too much crowds at night. The ones facing the alleys.

B-fest is OK. The good thing is it all you can eat although it cheaper for the little cafeteria near the entrance. Otherwise it was a good deal for the money. We paid 45 Euros for a double.

Location for this hotel is fabulous. The welcome was most unwelcoming & felt that we were there under sufference. It is a 1 minute walk into the Mesquita & terrific for exploring the old town of Cordoba. The downside is that trying to sleep is horrendous as the noise carries on until after 03:00am in the street & the hotel is also quite noisy which leaves you a bit jaded for sightseeing! If you decide to stay request a room NOT overlooking the Mesquita. The breakfast was good but service in hotel rather slow at times. The underground carpark is very tight for larger cars. Surrounding restaurants were good but quite expensive. Hotel lacked any atmosphere.

We stayed one night traveling between Seville and Madrid. The hotel is in the perfect location. It is right outside of the Mezquita. We paid 50 euro for one night and had a nice room facing the Mezquita. The room were of three star quality. The staff were nice.

Word of warning things close early in Cordoba, so don't eat late. Go see a Flamenco show. We went to a really good one that was near the Mezquita.

Don't stay anywhere else in Cordoba!

If you are going to Andalusia in the summer, the location of your hotel is VERY important (in 100 defrrees F, you don't want to walk any more than you have to!), and there can't be many places better for location than the Maimonides . First off, the Mesquita (very impressive!!) is literally right out the front door. But what's also extremely nice is that the quaint Old Town with all of the shops and eateries is right out the back door (OK, out the front door, and a U-turn toward the back). In the evening, when things cool down and you want dinner or a dessert, the location of the Maimonides is great.

We had no negative issues with our room, plumbing, or sleeping that some previous reviewers have mentioned -- in fact, the King bed was a wecome change -- and the AC was good too (an absolute necessity!) The staff was efficient, although not nearly as friendly as we had come to expect in our more boutique hotels. The desk people also had only a mediocre grasp of English, which surprised us at a larger, chain-type hotel.

All in all, though, we'd go back, as the rooms were just fine and the location was just perfect.
