“Better than a zoo back home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2012

Whilst on holiday in Almeria our daughters seen a flyer for this attraction and as its only open at the weekends was made to go on a Sunday. After about a 50 minute drive I honestly thought this was going to be another zoo but just in another country......how wrong could I be?

After entering the gate we were asked to pose for photos and my 2 daughters got there photos taken by real life cowboys and were allowed to hold the guns with no pressure to buy (how refreshing). Then on walking up you realise that the whole place looks like its been taken straight out of a John Wayne western with authentic music to go with it really making you feel that you are set back in time.

After spending time seeing all of the animals (there are plenty) we then decided to take in the parrot show.....how funny but I won't spoil it you just have to see this. We also went to the saloon bar that has proper swinging doors to be authentic and whilst there a show came on as well....one for the dads as its the dancing girls but all good family fun. Even although I can't speak Spanish it was really enjoyable.

There are lots of children's play parks with either cowboy themes or red Indian themes including obligatory totem poles and Whig whams!

The best part for me though was the last show where they catch the baddies and set a real life scene with some really good stunts that made it really enjoyable for all of the family.

Overall a great day for all of the family (myself included) that really made it stand out from just being an ordinary zoo to making it a really enjoyable day out (if only someone in the uk would do something similar).

“A great day out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2012

We have been several times, as an adult couple and also with family & grandchildren. There is so much to do - not only the western shows, which my grandson will sit through several times, but also a beautiful zoo, excellent swimming pools during the summer, and other attractions. I would have given this an even higher mark had the buffet style eat-all-you-like restaurant not significantly reduced the range of foods available - it is no longer the excellent value it once was.

“Spaghetti Western set”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2012

This area is famous used for the setting of the Spaghetti Westerns starring Clint Eastwood. Many other films were also made in the area. You can be on the sets, watch a gun fight and visit the bar with the showgirls. There is also a small zoo, bars and a swimming pool where you can relax after looking around. As it is in the desert region, it can be extremely hot during the daytme.

“Worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2012

This was a very good day out. It is easy to see why this location was chosen as a film set as the surrounding area so closely ressembles the deserts of Arizona. The film set is very interesting and well maintained. There are several shows put on during the day by the staff.
Due to this being in such an exposed location it was extremley hot during our visit.
The zoo next to the film set is also very large and takes quiet a while to walk around. Part of it involves a steep uphill climb but there is a bus available which is worth taking.
