“A little gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

To be honest, I booked this hotel because it was very reasonably priced. I hesitated at first as it was rated as 1* but going by the pictures posted and previous reviews I decided to give it a chance. And I'm so glad I did.
My room was located on the first floor above the restaurant/bar. It was a small room but had a very generous balcony which was far more important to me. There was a flat screen tv, air conditioning and ensuite bathroom. The décor is tired and it would benefit from some attention. The room was cleaned every day. As it was on the front of the hotel and facing the road, there was a fair bit of traffic noise. Opposite the hotel were a couple of bars where people tended to sit out quite late into the night chatting, so if you're looking for peace and quiet, this room is not for you. The noise didn't bother me at all and I found the balcony a great spot to people watch. There are rooms downstairs at the back of the hotel, but these have no balcony or terrace.
Down one flight of stairs to the restaurant/bar for breakfast. Not the best in the world, a toasted half baguette, butter, jam, orange juice and coffee.
The staff at this hotel do not speak English which was a little bit awkward at first as my Spanish is practically non existent, but we managed to understand each other and it wasn't really a problem.
The hotel has a beautiful pool area which is well kept and secluded with a few sunloungers provided.
All in all, this is a budget hotel, but provides everything you need. There are many cafes and bars within walking distance up the hill into Mojacar, and the beach is approx. 20 minute walk. Lots of shops etc near the beach..
Would I stay here
again? Most definitely!

For 90 euros, we (the little family of three) booked the apartment for one night (our last night in Spain) which is located near the car park.

First problem, the staff were very distracted so forgot the essential task of turning our hot water on, and the result being a very cold shower as the chap on reception was apparently too busy to come and sort it out, more involved in his newspaper and TV in the cafe.

Secondly, a rather large cockroach hiding in the shabby bathroom. The bathroom was cleaned perfectly but as they say, you can't polish a turd.

Third, the kitchen had a great range of useful appliances; sink, fridge (which wasn't turned on before we came, so what's the point?), microwave oven, hob and extractor. But, no kettle, a very disappointing discovery as you can pay pennies for a shabby hotel room anywhere in Europe and they would have a kettle.

Fourth, one of the three single beds, which shouldn't have fit in the tiny bedroom in the misleadingly advertised 'three/four person apartment', had several broken slats, which remained un-fixed throughout the entirety of our stay. Leading to a very tired and grumpy dad in the morning.

On a lighter note, the pool is lovely, perfectly heated and a number of sunbeds and fake grass to lounge on with a nice view of the valley and the sea. However, no umbrellas so we didn't get to enjoy this tiny slice of happiness.

What a way to end our lovely holiday. Nice location, AWFUL HOTEL. Do not stay in the apartments, take a hint from the lack of reviews and spend your euros somewhere else.

Room Tip: Do not choose an apartment.

Good location, nice staff, but little English spoken (if that worries you) as it seems to mainly cater to Spaniards. Free parking. Free wifi. Basic and dated but nice. Breakfast nothing to write home about

A well situated hotel; at the bottom of the town of Mojacar. The hotel has clean basic rooms with bathroom, shower and TV. The hotel is above the bar/cafe where you have breakfast. They also serve a variety of meals and Menu del Dia. A short walk up hill takes you into the town of Mojacar which is a pretty village of white washed properties. Bars and restaurants are in abundance with prices and menus to suite all. A 20 minute walk down hill takes you to the sandy beach with it's bars and restaurants, there is also a bus service right outside the hotel. Parking is available off road, just ask reception or get the information prior to arrival.

Room Tip: If you like a large bed; ask for a large room as they differ in size.
