This museum opened on 20th Dec 2013 and is free to enter. The museum is so new that at the time of my visit (Jan 2014), there is very little publicity about it. It is located right next to the cathedral, on the South side.
It is a celebration of the skills and craftsmanship of Guitar makers and Luthiers. Many of the famous guitar builders of the 19th and 20th Centuries, notably Antonio de Torres, were based in the Almeria area.
The museum is on 3 floors and includes film and interactive information about guitars and guitarists of all genres - e.g. Jazz, Blues as well as Classical and Flamenco. One of the highlights is the 'hands on' room where you can play a classical or electric guitar yourself. Let's hope that continues.
In the basement is an auditorium where they plan to hold performances and a workshop where they plan to hold guitar making classes.
It has excellent toilet facilities.
