“Best Best Western stay anywhere in the world”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

We stayed here in June and August, 2013, and both times were treated royally. I used reward points for one night and was put up in a huge room and received a barbeque set and local mustard crock as a welcome gift. The deep bath for 2 was a welcome surprise after a week of tiny showers at other hotels. The incredible breakfast buffet was included. I loved that there were two types of caviar. We went to two shows at the National Theatre which is just around the corner; even saw Faust where it was originally premiered.
Pull up and park in front and let the valet park it for you; 14 euros a night.

I stayed in this hotel for one night and what I really liked was the fact that it was elegant in the old fashioned way...it had all the modern amenities but still the old charm something that often is lacking in new hotels. It is centrally located, there is a copious breakfast buffet, the staff is efficient and friendly, the rooms are well-equipped and comfy. It also has an underground parking and an outside parking area. Definitely a great place to stay.

Situated right at the edge of the old town and right at a bus stop this is an upmarket place to stay. Lovely rooms with free Internet, free tea and coffee and good sized flat screen TVs. Good coffee shop but restaurant is leased out and does not deserve its rating. Pity as a hotel of this quality should have an equally good place to eat especially when the prices are way above average. Luckily there is a surfeit of restaurants within walking distance some better or worse than others. You take pot luck but the Koestritzer is quite good. All in all we recommend this hotel and would stay there again when in Weimar.

My friend and I stayed here for the night while on a road trip through Germany. I'm so glad we stayed here! I am a Best Western Rewards member and was upgraded at check in (which was a pleasant surprise!). Even without the upgrade, we would have enjoyed our stay here. There was overnight parking (for a small additional fee) which was handled through valet parking. The room had AC (which was great since it was unseasonably warm the week we were traveling. At the time, it was a little difficult to get to the hotel due to road construction, but we managed to find it anyway with the GPS.

The location was great - right off one of the main squares and we were able to walk everywhere in downtown Weimar easily enough. The staff was friendly and I would stay here again!

I was going to Weimar to fulfill a promise I made 35 years ago. My grandmother's best friend was murdered at Buchenwald Concentration Camp. Which is why I was there. The hotel is NOT helpful about how to get to Buchenwald. But the very informative website is and the camp is about 20 min by bus. The stop is right in front of the hotel across the street and you can't miss it because it says "BUCHENWALD" right across the top of it. But this is about the hotel. The hotel is certainly not your typical Best Western. It is elegant marble and glass chandeliers with brass fittings everywhere. Very attractive. The lobby, though a bit small, was magnificent. The moment I arrived the front desk was kind and helpful until I mentioned the reason for my trip and then they became rather succinct and not at all informative. The room, 322, was very small but well appointed. The bed however was awful. Very soft and very close to the ground. Do not book this room and any like it if you have a bad back. The breakfast is expensive, (19) and adequate but not lavish. The best thing about this hotel is it's reasonable and smack dab in the middle of the historic city of Weimar in the old section which is beautiful. There are loads of cafes, bakeries and restaurants within easy walking distance. I would stay again but be forewarned if , like me, you are on business; the restaurant which you enter through the lobby is NOT part of the hotel and if you expense your trip you should know you cannot charge your meal through the hotel. Which was annoying although the food was sublime. Rubbish wine list however. By the way all the previous whinging about the glass door in the bathroom? There are blinds you can lower so what is the problem? It's a lovely bathroom with a wonderfully large tub. Enjoy a soak after a workout in the modest but nicely equipped gym. There is also a spa so clean you could perform surgery in it. All in all a nice stay.

Room Tip: Over looking the square. It's not a noisy town.

For years and years Russischer Hof has been my favourite, being arguably the best hotel in Weimar. In March I had one more opportunity to verify that joining the Best Western chain has changed nothing for the worse. Genuinely friendly staff makes you feel welcome right on arrival, rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished, a sumptuous breakfast buffet awaits you - and all this right in center of one of the most famous and lovely towns in Germany. Make sure to check with the staff, they are very helpful in filling you in with the "where to go, what to see". The hotel hosts cultural events from time to time, so check for such packages before you book: you could enjoy a concert or a soiree during your stay (or avoid them if you can't stand the crowds). Hotel also runs a cafe (great chocolates and pralines) and a gourmet restaurant (Anastasia).
Although without any question at the more expensive end of the scale, it's always worthe the money.
