The best (I'm not kidding) dark chocolate icecream anywhere. Truly divine...

“Sooo good. Do not miss it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2011 via mobile

This tiny chocolatier ranks in my top three.

First of all, the approach is already enticing and full of atmosphere, as Goldhelm is on Krämerbrücke (one of Erfurt's loveliest landmarks:it's a bridge flanked by tall, narrow timber-frame houses, lined with little artisan shops).
On cold winter days, after sunset, wander across the bridge and see the warm glow from the shop spill onto the cobblestones.

Then, you'll find that the tiny interior is welcoming, tidy and styled like a country kitchen. There is cool music playing in the background and a handful of tables, which means that customers are well looked after.

There is a glass cabinet displaying all the truffles and chocolates made on the day (fillings and flavourings are all natural, often seasonal and/or locally sourced). The marble counter that divides the café from the kitchen -with views down to the river- is also stacked with their own delicious "bridge truffles" (delectable, pure, elegant and grown-up confections of the darkest, best quality cocoa), and chocolate bars with sea salt and nuggets of good caramel.

The hot chocolates can be ordered straight or with spices. My favourite is the one with chili.
The quality of the chocolate is as high as the chocolatiers' tempering skills.
These people are real artisans.
This is a place best suited for small parties and adults with older children and a discerning palate is an advantage here.
