Neat attraction made more interesting by our walking guide. The shops on the bridge were fun to check out. Nice photo opportunities. I found the history of the bridge was the best part.

A must see when in Erfurt, lovely shops and views from below the bridge back up to the shops and apartments
Erfurt gorgeous city combining old and new. You can really identify the same elements from the Middle Ages. Merchants Bridge gorgeous and impressive when you think about bygone days. Nowadays it is a street with very nice shops but not much.
I found the shops only mediocre, with ornery sales people (a full grown adult can't pick up a 5 euro piece of glass to examine it without a rude chewing out from the shopkeeper, for example... and don't touch the window dressings made out of children's tops at the other store) but the structures are really cool. Visit the side with the ancient synagogue and ice cream shop and marvel at the building that is leaning. I enjoyed sitting outside in that area looking at the back side of the structures more than visiting the shops and church on the bridge.
You don't realise this is a bridge until you're on another bridge looking back at it, but the buildings are magnificent and the shops (mainly touristy) are a delight. The left-handed shop is marvellous.
There used to be a lot of these bridges in Eurpoe, where houses and shops were built upon. Most burned down. This one survived and should not be missed when in the neighbourhood of Erfurt. Forget about the touristy shops though.
