“Perfect stay in Lübeck”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013 via mobile

Great stay in this very centrally located, cosy hotel in Lübeck. This is a small hotel, (with around 20 rooms) and my room was also small with a single bed. But it was well done, clean, with everything I needed. The room price was also very good. Breakfast was extra, but at a reasonable cost and quite good. The Marienkirche church is across the street, so the bells can be loud as well as a construction site next door, but the double glazed window kept the noise out. The central part of Lübeck itself wonderful, with something interesting at every turn.

We decided to go to Lubeck because not many people do. It is a wonderful town, and this hotel was a great place to stay. It is in the old town, so the train station (which is outside the town walls and across the river) is about a ten - fifteen minute walk away. But it is a nice way to come up and enter the city. The hotel is right next to the church; I mean the church just filled up our window view. We like the sound of the bells, but I suppose the one downside to this hotel, if there is a downside, would be the church bells. Anyway, we showed up about 9AM and they showed us into the room so we could drop our things. The room was simple, but clean and had everything we needed. It was cool on a hot summer day with the sun coming in the window. The breakfast the next morning was very good. We would return to Lubeck and stay here again. One night, June 2011

This is really a little gem of an hotel. The reception staff are exceptional, helpful and positive with e best of German hospitality. The breakfasts are pretty hard to beat, fresh fruit, eggs, great selection of meats, yoghurts jams etc. the rooms are clean, good size with all amenities and very warm (can get cold in winter!). Some excellently designed furniture around. Highly recommended in all ways.

The people at the reception are very friendly and helpfull. The hotel is in the centre of town so within walking distance to all the sights. The breakfast area is nice and the breakfast very good. There is parking for your car at the Marienkirche in front of the hotel. Free Wifi. The rooms are simple and a bit poor value for money. There is no airconditioning and fridge.

Very modern and stylish, right in the middle of town, affordable, and great breakfast. We loved the style of this place and had a good night's sleep. Perfect base from which to explore this pleasant and pretty city.

All that has been posted here before is spot on. Excellent location in the centre within walking distance to all the sights of the Old Town; spotless rooms with powerful hot showers and fluffy towels (but bath towel could be a bit bigger for those of us with fuller hips); a very welcome mini-fridge with a litre of fizzy mineral water replaced daily and space for a few brought-in tins; personal service from very helpful owners (two ladies?) and staff; superb quality German continental breakfast. Despite the central location it's not too noisy due to good soundproofing (at least in room 35), but the Marienkirche bells chime intermittently at night and every 15mins from 7.00a.m. Also, during our late August 2012 stay there was a new building being constructed next door, though our room had a printed apology for any disturbance caused (none really in our case) together with complimentary foam earplugs! At booking we had requested a kettle which was duly provided accompanied by a couple of mugs, sugar, biscuits and tea (but we had brought our own Yorkshire Teabags obviously).
Criticisms? Hard to find anything major:- but for those of a certain arthritic age, a climb to the third floor may well be a bit taxing due to the absence of a lift and the low ceilings in the staircase; also the "minimalist" furnishings in "compact" rooms may not suit (no overstuffed Chesterfields or cat-swinging space here!), though the firm bed was great for my spine!; and yes everyone here seems to get up at 6am, but then so do I. No, my only negative is that no parking was available when I booked over 6 months in advance, but even this was no great hardship as I was clearly informed of this by the owners at the time and found parking on the quayside next to the historic ships only a few hundred yards away at €5/24 hours. On my previous visit to Luebeck I stayed in one of the luxury business chain hotels outside the old town. That stay was tolerable, this one enjoyable - no comparison. Can't wait to go back to this historic town and this lovely hotel.

Best hotel in the old town because it has parking. With others you have to use the public pay parking across the river. Clean simple rooms and good breakfast and free wifi in the room. The Marienkirche chimes every quarter but you soon get used to it. Germany rises early and the church seems to echo conversation and traffic noise. Thomas Mann's house is across the road and a walk round the old town and a meal on the river is very rewarding after a full days travel. Third visit to this hotel.
