“Beautiful church with many historical connections!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2014

We came to see and sing in the Thomaskirche, but stumbled upon the Nikolaikirche as we roamed the streets of Leipzig. This is a beautiful church with tons of history surrounding both politics and music. So, make sure you read up on it before you walk inside––knowing it's history makes its grandeur even more palatable.

As you explore churches in this area, take note of the pink stone that is used to craft many of the structures. Another notable place this stone is used is in the Frankfurt Cathedral. Make sure you look up at the beautiful ceiling in the Nikolaikirche and back at the unique organ. I really wish I could have heard a concert in here!

“What a surprise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

This church is amazing. Not only was it the meeting point for the peace walks that sparked the 1989 revolution, but is stunningly beautiful too (the inside is so much more beautiful than the outside suggests). I'm not really one for churches and visited this one on the recommendation of a friend and was really quite blown away. I'd recommend that visitors to Leipzig drop in at the very least.

“Not to miss”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2013

Nikolaikirche : open fo all . That's what the sign says at the entrance . People of Leipzig are very proud of their " friendly revolution " that happened in the months before and after the fall of the Berlin Wall . This Church is a simbol of that revolution, because it was here that every Monday people meet .
Plus it is a beautiful bulding , outside and inside.

“Where it all started!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2013

The feeling of being at the place where the peace walks started in 1989 is shivering. What a nice venue to host such historic event, not to be lissed!
