“Clean rooms, ok gym, a little walk from city center”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2014

No heavenly beds here; standard EU style rooms and beddings. Small bathroom. Gym is small but adequate and accessed via a separate elevator. Staff were friendly and helpful. A bit of walking distance to train station and city center; not fun in the frigid winter. Breakfast was buffet style and very well supplied with both warm and cold selections, German and American style breakfast. Definite highlight of the stay!

Stayed at Westin in Leipzig after Xmas for two nights. The standard room was nothing special, but we loved the view over the old town! Right after check in we called the service express for two bath robes which seem to be missing in our room. 5min. later they were there in front of our door :-) Air condition, which we feared by reading critiques was warm enough. Swimming pool and Sauna, both we enjoyed eveyday was clean and surprisingly empty, assuming due to the 3EUR entrance fee. The only minus was the breakfast. Was not worth to pay 22EUR per head and up to the standards of other Westin hotels in Germany. For the price we must pay we would expect to find much better selections for breads and cheese.

Room Tip: Anywhere above 18th floor you can get a nice view of Leipzig!

The hotel is nice, public areas are nice. I was upgraded to a cool suite, the staff is very friendly.
But the room would not get warm the whole time I was there even with the heat turned all the way up (it is radiant water heat). A colleague commented that her room was also cold. The cold room did make the heated floor in the bathroom seem even better. The room was well appointed but there was no coffee or tea in the room; if you wanted it you had to go get it order from room service. There were plenty of bath towels, but no small face cloths. The bed was horrible; it was two singles put together thus the division in the middle; second it was quite hard and finally the covers were not adequate to keep me warm. Strange from the hotel brand that invented the heavenly bed. I actually had a sore back at the end of the second day.
The gym was well appointed and they have a nice pool but charge for use of the pool.
The rate for the first two nights of my stay was quite reasonable; however because of high occupancy the rate for the third night it was going to be nearly triple so I decided I would leave and try another hotel that might have a comfortable bed and coffee and tea in the room. Even though this hotel has been completely remodeled since the time of East Germany the bed and the ventilation seem to be a relic from the DDR.

Room Tip: Find a newer hotel that has comfortable beds and forced air ventilation so you can control the room...

Stayed here for 1 night and was surprised how out of the date the hotel is compared to other Westin hotels I've stayed at. The service from the staff was as always very professional and pleasant however the rooms were quite basic and the bathroom did not have a proper shower facility. The breakfast was very good with a great selection to suit all tastes.

Dear "Ron", Thank you very much for your comment. Westin hotels are in general not uniform - each hotel has its own character. Hopefully it was not your last stay with us - we look forward to your next visit. Greetings to Beijing.

I had an idea we were in for a treat from the first moment we went in to the impressive lobby (not sure the word lobby does justice to the vast area!) and quickly followed by the most impressive receptionist we have met this year. So helpful, polite and made us fell like special guests rather just another couple waiting to be served.
We had paid for a Grand Deluxe room and had made a request for there to be two armchairs in it. Have lost count how many hotels only provide one armchair for two guests!. The receptionist noted this request on the reservation and recommended upgrading to a Junior Suite as there would be more room for chairs. The upgrade price was extremely reasonable so we accepted the offer. When we entered the suite, it was a very impressive size with splendid views across Leipzig. There was a separate seating area with a work desk, coffee table, settee, two armchairs....and at that point a member of staff knocked on the door with 'two armchairs' - in an effort to hide my embarrassment, I accepted one of the chairs and politely stated we no longer needed another one! in fact the chair delivered was a comfortable and fully adjustable office chair which proved very useful as my wife had to do a few hours work during our stay. The 'Heavenly' bed was huge, very comfortable and good quality linen.
Almost forgot to mention the 55" LED TV!!! and a smaller one in the bedroom!
We ate a meal in the Shinto lounge/bar - perfectly adequate for snack/bar food and tried a few of the German wines on offer - not cheap but far more interesting and better quality than what's on offer in the UK.
Would have liked to eat in the Falco restaurant as it gets rave reviews - but it is very pricey so we gave it a miss for this trip! Maybe next time?
Hotels is in a superb location - less than 5 minutes walk from the railway station and about 5 minutes walk in the centre of Leipzig.
If you don't fancy walking, the main tram stop is just outside the railway station with frequent connections to all parts of the city. The ticket machines are easy to operate and we purchased a day ticket for two people (covering the central zone only) for just Euro 8.90.

Room Tip: A high floor will give you excellent views over the city.

I have a brief over night stay here whilst on a business trip and was pleasantly surprised we arrived late and they had laid on some delicious food and drinks - well received after a long day travelling! Rooms were clean and tidy, lovely leaf shaped soap in the bathroom only comment would be that they had single beds although comfy it was unusual however not really a complaint - good stay! breakfast was amazing with so much choice in every areas certainly spoilt for choice!

This hotel is right next to the main station and located close to main shops and restaurants/cafes.Check in was super efficient and friendly. Rooms are a bit on the small side but same standard as other Westin hotels - what makes it special are the views of the city as the hotel is one of the tallest buildings in Leipzig. As with oher Westin hotels the charge for breakfast/wifi is pretty excessive if you are not on corporate expenses so not really worth it.

Room Tip: Ask for the top floors for great views of the city.
