“Prof Jeff at La Provence”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

I was visiting my step daughters in Leipzig and we went to La Provence for dinner. The weather was good so we were able to sit outside in a traffic free area of town. There was an excellent choice on the menu and when the food was served it was very good. In fact the serving staff did much to make us feel at ease which is always nice. In addition the cellar was good.
Whilst sitting there I even felt that we could have been in France as the whole restaurant gave the impression of a well run French establishment. I will visit this restaurant again for sure. I recommend it highly.

“This place really has deteriorated!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

We booked into this place on the basis of good Trip Advisor reviews.....but the place must have changed hands. The food was not at all Provencal - if French at all, it would be Normandy cuisine, drenched in cream. We booked a table outside, because the weather was nice, but although outside, we were put into a dingy internal courtyard.
The waitress was impatient to get us to buy expensive wines, but had no knowledge of the wine list. She was brusque and unfriendly.
At the end, I told her to put 200 Euros on the credit card - for a 184.60 Euro bill. She"accidentally" made out the card for 250 Euros, and it had to be re-made.
Avoid this place - but if you feel compelled to eat there, count your fingers!

“Good salads and fish”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

There is a row of restaurants behind the Thomaskirche area along the entire street. It is virtually impossible to tell them apart where one begins & other ends. We chose this only based on the very high TripAdv rating. I would say not disappointed, the service was very good, they had English menus the server did her best to speak English. The salads and the fish was excellent. However two people in our party ordered lamb and they were disappointed and left most of it untouched. The shrimp main course was also disappointing that it had only 3-4 shrimps which is a little for the main course.

Overall the outside seating, food, atmosphere are very good

“Excellent value, very friendly”

Just around the corner from the Thomaskirche, by a fountain, & next to the famous Coffee Haus/Museum.
Warmly recommended.

“Real Provencal food in Leipzig”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2012

The atmosphere, especially the garden behind and the seating out front makes you feel like lingering all day. The food is excellent, I especially like the mussels in cream - better than what I ate in Provence!
The restaurant is very centrally located and a good site to watch the people go by.
