“OK, but could do much better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012

Visited for just the one night, as 1 of a couple.

The hotel looks good from the outside, though at present there is a lot of roadworks around.

Inside it is not so impressive, though they have such a good canvas to work from that is a bit disappointing. The check-in staff were straightforward without being overly friendly or helpful. But not stuffy at all.

Our double room was very good sized, and decent fittings. But I did not sleep well, though maybe there were other reasons for that.

Location is OK without being great. The Neustadt area is not far, walking distance, away. Busses and trams are close by.

Did not est there - why do so many places overprice their breakfasts? The McDonalds across the road is, well, available, and strong competition.

I stayed one night a couple of days ago and was very satisfied. It was my second time in this hotel and third time in Dresden. In principle, in Dresden you just need a bed to sleep in, because you will be busy walking all day. Yes, the city is that great with lots to see and to do. NH is famous for its great beds (sleep quality) and general modernity of facilities. This one is no expception. Great value for money.

Room type: Single
Room condition: Clean and spacious enough. Toilet clean but toothbrush not provided.
Internet: Wifi quit slow and need to pay for using internet except in the lobby where is is free.
Staff: Friendly and helpful

Additional Notes:

TV channel 21 seems to suffer some intermittent lost connection ( the english movie channel)
MacDonald just opposite of the hotel.
A super market down the road takes about 10 mins walk.
The tram station is about 10-15 minutes walk from hotel.
Need at least around 15-20 mins to walk to nearby resturants beside macdonald.

A very clean, modern, up-market hotel yet not too expensive. Impressive entrance lobby. Helpful friendly staff. Nice large rooms with big beds and big windows that open to allow in the nice breeze. Blackout drapes make 4am sunrise bearable. Be aware that "kitchen" means only a mini-fridge. If you go to the small market a few minutes away, don't plan to refrigerate more than a few bottles of beer, soda, or a bottle of wine. Bathrooms are large for Germany and have small tubs! Fitness suite has limited opening hours (starting after 10am!) and machines are a little dated. Breakfast is pricey, but McDonald's and McCafe are across the street. Slightly out of town center but easily accessible by tram behind the hotel with a 5 minute walk. Free internet is only available in the lobby for 30 min intervals which is annoying for business users, but I had an international plan and frankly rarely needed more than 30 minutes at a time. There are upload limits, too, so keep photo uploads to a minimum. Neustadt, the trendy university area of Dresden, is nearby and worth a visit on a weekend night to hang with the locals. Some nice cafes and a park, too...about 15 minutes walking. Still, the hotel has enough going for it that make the annoyances minor.

Room Tip: All rooms exactly the same and quiet enough it doesn't matter where

Still can't understand why this was advertised as a business hotel and they charge exorbitant rates for internet access. A free wifi was available in the lobby area for 30mins which was so slow browsing was impossible. Free internet access is now freely available in the most business friendly hotels. Otherwise my room was spacious but smelt mouldy. The bed was ok. Didn't try the restaurant as I eat at Sophienkeller in town. I'll try elsewhere next time.

This hotel had large, comfortable rooms. They were very clean. The breakfasts were the best that we had in Germany. The staff was very accommodating. There was not much to watch on TV that was in English.
The one negative was that it was beyond walking distance to the old part of town.

Room Tip: Remember that most hotels in Europe (including this one) do not furnish wash cloths, so bring your o...

I took a training course here, in february 2012. The hotel is a little far by the downtown, but is a very good place to have a look of the north side of Dresden by walking. The room was quite and the food (breakfast, lunch and drink) was of international good taste. I recommend this hotel to people need to stay in Dresden for work or vacation.

Room Tip: I prefer internal rooms, they are more quite and silent.
