This hotel is really a kind of inn--and probably always was, although it has more rooms than inns tend to have. It's located in Seidnitz, a leafy suburb of Dresden (but which is well connected to the town center by a fast, modern tram which operates on a parallel street). The kitchen is obviously one of the best in town, since the dining room fills up every night, not just with hotel guests but locals. They serve good, hearty Saxon cuisine and the breakfast buffet is tasty and abundant, as they trend to be in this country. The rooms are basic really, but the bathrooms are modern and well maintained and the hotel is quiet. One does have the feeling of living in Dresden rather than staying there as a tourist. The price-value relationship is very good. I am not sure about the language skills of the staff since I do speak German, but there was an American family of six staying there too--I just met them as I was checking out--and they seemed to have had no problem.
