“Awesome location, basic and value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

We stayed here for 2 nights. This was an interesting hotel because i think the owners really sat down and rethink the entire concept of what a hotel could be: out goes the mini bar, the key card to the rooms, room safe, room phone, restaurant service, in comes very Ikea looking furniture, high tech room lightings, comfortable and clean room and LOW PRICES! It is like Ikea where they stripped away most of the services which hotel guests like me does not use and pass the cost savings to us!
Anyway back to the review, the location was excellent. 2 - 3 min walk straight ahead to the Altstadt, built in the same building as Altstadt Galerie where you have modern day shopping and food.
Rooms are clean and the service staff (including cleaners we met at the corridor) are friendly. Not all are fluent in English though and the bed is not the most comfortable but it works.
In summary a very good stay which i will recommend to all.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the street are not really that noisy as described in some of the reviews.

Staff very friendly, great location with tram just outside. Had a room at the back and was pretty quite for city centre. Breakfast was a bit expensive in comparison to room price, but lots of shops and cafes nearby.
Has locked luggage storage and they let me use the iron in the luggage storage cupboard, you have to bring your ironing to reception.

Stayed here for 3 nights in Sep 2012. I chose this hotel because it was new, cheap and well located. The room I had faces the main street and if you are a light sleeper, please ask for a room that faces the back of the building. The tram service ends late and starts early and even with the windows closed I can still hear them. In sep the air condition is no longer turned on and when the room gets stuffy you have to leave the windows open and that is when the noise from the trams outside gets really annoying.
The twin beds which we had are abit narrow but sufficient for me. The shower might be an issue if you are not staying with someone you are comfortable with. You cannot hang your dry, clean clothes inside the cubicle and this means you will have to come out in your towel to wear them.
The best thing about this hotel is the location. It is very near to all the sights ie 5 mins walk to zwinger or the riverfront. There are supermarkets inside the mall where the hotel is located so you can buy cheap snacks and drinks easily and they close at 9pm ....very useful.
I did not take my breakfast at the hotel instead I ate at a cafe in the mall. The cafe is located at the corner facing the tram stop and opens at 8am daily. They sell a wide variety of bread, pastries and sandwiches as well as good coffee such as expresso, cuppacino. A breakfast set with hot drink, juice and basket of pastry cost around €6-7 or you can chose a croissant with coffee for only €2. A macdonald that serves breakfast is 2 mins walk away.
Access to the hotel is in front of the tram stop facing the main street. You do not have to enter the mall. You will not find directions to the hotel from within the mall.
Overall its a very good base for someone looking for good value hotels in central Dresden.

Room Tip: Chose a room facing away from the main street If you want a quiet room.

Excellent value for money, clean, so central - It's above the city centre shopping mall. And totally quiet with the window closed. Ensuite, modern rooms, with washbasin, mirror backlit and strip lighting going around a panel that spans the length of the room. No fridge though, and shower cubicle shares the same space as the bedroom. Easy access to road, and parking in the car parks below the mall. NB Parking is tight and costs 8euro/day. Tram stops to everywhere right outside too.

We decided to book our hotels before each leg of the trip and as we were sorting through, we found this hotel to be clean, close and affordable. It was within great walking distance to most of the sights. There's a mall and restaurants nearby. Transportation is right outside the doorway. There's a garage/parking area downstairs (access in the "middle" of the main road. They have a parking deal, so that helps if you are staying long.

Access to each room is a special code they give you that you punch in at the doorway. The doors are pretty heavy and seem to block out sound. The room is cozy small. It's a full/double bed with a bunk bed on top. The bed isn't the most comfy, but we managed to get some rest. The only thing I wasn't thrilled about was the see through shower right next to the bed. There's a "frost" strip along the the middle part to censor the goodies, but we closed most of the bright lights to give more privacy to the showering person. The toilet is in it's own little room which is great for the other person to jump in to use in case the other is showering.

Wifi is free, but instructions on how to access it is supposedly in each room. We looked all over and found nothing to show you how. So we went down to reception to ask and he looked at us as though we were probably oblivious or "dumb". He handed us a sheet and we logged in successfully afterwards.

All in all, I wouldn't mind coming back and staying again.

The hotel is in the true city center, near to all, cheap according to the german price.
The hotel is clean and usefull, side to a very big and good mall.
The brekfast is not the best, but is quiet ok, all other things perfect.

We stayed here for 2 nights and payed just 84 euro in total. We booked the room directly from the ibis website. The room was very clean, forniture is new and we liked the sink and the shower, which are near the bed. The WC is in another small room. The shower is half transparent, so maybe this could be a problem for those who travel with children or friends. The bed is very comfy, the room is soundproof and we slept very well at night. We were given a room on the fourth floor. The room faced a main street with a tram stop, however we couldn't hear any kind of noise at night, neither from the street nor from other rooms. We decided to have breakfast at the hotel and payed 15 euro for one day (7.5 per person): we were not disappointed, there is a lot of food to eat, although there are not many sweets things (I didn't see cakes or croissants, so those who like Italian breakfast could be disappointed... coffee is not "espresso" and as for sweet food there is just marmelade to eat with rusks and bread). Anyway in my opinion this buffet keeps definitely up with 3* hotels. Another thing that we liked is that you don't need any kind of key or card to open your room door, but you will be given a personal six digit number to open it. We knew that the rooms are not very big, when we booked the room we were a little bit worried about it. I have to say, though, that the layout of the bed, wc, sink and shower is great and we didn't feel squeezy at all! After we left Dresden we went to Munich and we stayed in a 3* hotel whose rooms were no bigger than these. Staff at reception was friendly and smiley. If we return to Dresden we will definitely choose this hotel again!
