“Good, clean no frills budget hotel ”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2015

We spent one overnight while in Dresden for the citylauf. Hotel staff was friendly and check in was a breeze. Rooms are small and beds and bathrooms are smaller but you get what you pay for. Breakfast (included) was good but crowded. Location is perfect directly on the shopping street near the sights.

This Hotel is one of three IBIS Hotels in a row in the centre of Dresden.

Good-size rooms, a friendlly Reception and a wide-ranging, value for money Breakfast, less than 100 metrers from Dresden Main Train Station (Hauptbahnhof), make this a good choice.

Our wonderful experience in Berlin didn't prepare us for this dreadful property. Every person who worked there was surly, rude and extremely unwilling to help us with our questions. The room was no bigger than a closet and it's a good thing I really love my husband because the bed was an oversized single. The city was beautiful and we found redeeming qualities there, but the hotel won't get our business again.

Location
There are three ibis hotels located next to each other. . It probably won't differ which one you will chose. We chose Ibis Konigstein because we found a suite.. the suite was for about 70 euros per night (as far as I can rember).
The hotel is in the middle of the shopping area.. 5 min Walk to the main train station. And next to all the shops and restaurants.
Rooms
The suite we booked was very spacious. . A bedroom and a separate living room. .a dressing area and and a reasonably sized bathroom.. which is a good change from the usual tiny Ibis rooms..
As usual the amenities in Ibis are not much.. no in room safe, no kettle and no fridge, one type of soap in the bathroom and so on.. for those of you who stayed in ibis before, that is the usual.. although some of them have safes..
The room cleaning service is also not the best.. they hardly clean. We stayed three nights and they never changed the bed sheets.

Staff
As you probably read in previous reviews the staff are neutral. I don't believe they are rude.. they are just neutral.. doing their jobs but without a smile or even a greeting when you enter and leave the hotel.
They give you the feeling that they hate their job.. or hate you.. I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that.. most reviewers here report the same problem. I really believe Accord should do something about that. Because it seems to me like they just don't care what you think.. and if they do read this review they also won't care.
But don't let that ruin your stay.. just be neutral with them like how they r neutral with you and you ll get through..

Internet
You get one device access.. I took mine for free because I'm a gold member. I think you have to pay 6 euros per device if you are not.. I'm not sure though. . I think paying per device is absulitely silly.. just get your self an application called connectify on your PC or get a portable wifi Hotspot if you travel a lot.. it's a good thing that there are such options out there to overcome these rediculous restrictions put in hotels.

Value
Overall it was a good value. I'd stay there again. A good room, average service for a good price.

“Ibis Königstein” is definitely a no-frills hotel. The air-conditioned standard room where I stayed as a solo traveler, was a small double room, but sufficiently large for a single person. The furniture was functional and in good condition, albeit not particularly appealing or stylish. However, I appreciated the bright reading light at the bedside and the large number of foreign language channels at the TV, which was also fairly large-sized by hotel room standards.

At night, the hotel was perfectly quiet. Unfortunately, there was a little construction site in front of the building, where work started a 6:15 a.m. From that time on I could not sleep any longer because the windows turned out not to be soundproofing. Nonetheless, given the room rate of only 49.50 euros per day, I was satisfied by my “room with a view” at the ninth floor.

The buffet breakfast at an extra price of 10 euros provided the usual choice, but most of the cheeses and breads were average at best and not tasty. The biggest downside of this hotel was the heavy and much too thick quilt. It would only have been adequate for sleeping with the windows left wide open, which, of course, was not an option in the center of Dresden and at that time of the year. This made me sweat enormously at night and deteriorated sleep quality
