This is a great, funky hotel only a ten minute walk to the Zwinger. We wanted something different from the large featureless hotels opposite the main train station. A little difficult to find without resorting to a taxi only to discover from reception that a Number 11 Tram leaves from the station and stops about 50 metres from the hotel (Note to manager - put this info on your website). The room was comfortable with a jazzy bathroom and cool lighting window feature that makes the bathroom either opaque or translucent back into the bedroom. Now there's an interesting option you don't always see in hotel bathrooms! The desk morphs into the closet and the bed was large and comfortable. These hotels feature artworks from local artists. This one included paintings, sketches and sculptures mostly from the one artist. The large sculpture on the roof of the hotel is definitely worth a photo! Staff were friendly and helpful and kindly minded our bags the following day after checkout as we had a few hours for more sightseeing before catching our train. Breakfast was plentiful and yummy. A great hotel and close to everything - great to try something different if you are only only having a brief 24 hour stopover (like us) or a few days to explore this wonderful city.

Large, modern hotel located roughly between the Neustadt and Hauptbahnhof rail stations. It's possible to walk to either although taking the tram from just outside the front door is probably a better option. The main city sights and the River Elbe are in easy walking distance.

On arrival, the staff were efficient and professional and spoke reasonable English. The public areas were spacious and airy and we briefly popped in to the bar for a complimentary glass of wine.

I'd guess the hotel probably dates from the late 1990's? Although still reasonably smart, the décor and fittings (flat screen TV's have yet to arrive) are starting to look a little dated in places and the hotel could probably do with a refresh to keep its edge.

The genitally obsessed art theme which features throughout (think all the work is by one artist) also started to get a bit tedious. I'm no art critic, but I'd suspect you'd be better visiting a gallery if you're looking for something more highbrow.

These points aside, our room was comfortable, spacious with relatively plain contemporary décor. The bathroom was also large and fitted out to a high standard, including a controllable frosted screen for modesty! Tea and coffee making facilities were also provided.

We enjoyed the excellent rooftop sauna with views over the city, only let down by the male guest who insisted on taking a sauna fully nude in front of my girlfriend. Sorry, us Brits are a bit up tight about things like that!

We didn't take the breakfast option, as it seemed quite expensive and were also keen to get out for some sightseeing.

All in all, we enjoyed our short stay. It's probably pitched towards the business rather than the tourist market, but standards are high and the basic weekend tariff offered value for money.

Room Tip: Rooms to the rear faced towards a modern office complex. Perhaps not the most exciting of outlooks b...

Two women traveling, this was a great, safe, inexpensive hotel compared to staying on the square in Dresden. We parked the car for free on the street for the weekend and had no issues at all. The hotel is only a 10 minute walk to the center of Dresden, and it is a beautiful walk full of history.
The hotel is clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Although I speak German, their English was also very good as you expect in most German cities. The room was a typical room spacious and very clean, completely up to American standards. No large tv, but I wasn't there for that. Bathroom was very large and modern, wonderful, hot shower. Beds were very comfortable and linens were soft and fluffy.
There are many small restaurants on the same block and also one on site in the hotel.
Staff did hold luggage for us after we checked out in the morning so we could sight see without the risk of locking luggage in the car. Wifi was free, contrary to other reviews. Worked fine for quick emails and messages back home to the states. Otherwise, you can always go to the city center have free wifi there also in the amazing shopping center, state of the art Apple store and all.
Just a beautiful city with an amazing history! Be sure to plan a night walk, you won't want to miss the spectacular views of the Frauenkirche and other monuments illuminated in the evening. You can sit outside on a heated patio (with blankets too) and enjoy a beer and the views!

Stayed a few nights in August, 2012. Very unusual, comfortable hotel, unlike any other. Nice room, took a while to find the closet. Especially enjoyed the statue on the roof. Fair location, would stay here again.
