We discovered this hotel reading Tripadvisor reviews, but on the first attempt, it was so full that we went to another central modern hotel. The staff is professionnal and the concierge is highly recommended , as Asian top hotels such as Peninsula or Mandarin. Liked very much the modern decor in a ancient Palais building. Bed is confortable, a big desk with several functionnal plugs for laptop or ipod ,and what I like most was that the TV is hidden inside Chinese furniture. I also appreciate that their pool was open late! (often you have to choose between dinne or relax swimming after a long day...) Lots of interests are just crossing walking distance, and if the hotel garage is full, there is another big one nearby.

Room tip: Perfect soundproof ,even in the corridor you hardly hear your neighbour opening or closing his door.

I stayed here in May of 2014. Two friends accompanied me. We all had deluxe rooms which were very spacious with high ceilings. Very tasteful as well: classical style with a touch of art deco. In two rooms the ac worked wonderfully but, unfortunately, the one in the third room didn't which was a shame because traffic on the cobble stones in front of the windows make a lot of noise. The breakfast buffet was good and the staff was very friendly. The location couldn't be better. The hotel has a gourmet restaurant plus a nice, casual restaurant named the Paulaner which is very nice when you aren't in the mood for gourmet. I found this hotel to be fully satisfactory, as have all the Kempinski hotels I have been to and I would highly recommend it.

The Taschenberg Palais has been rebuilt in a perfect historical way, while including all modern comfort. The location opposite the Residez Schloss/Green Vault, the Zwinger and the Opera is unbeatable. Walking distance to all major attractions like Frauenkirche. The hotel is very large, with various options to relax: the courtyard, the cocktail bar, the coffee lounge and several outside terraces from independent restaurants. And the pool at the top floor, which is great.
We were warmly welcomed by the receptionist, who took us to a really large room with nice city views. Comfortable chairs and good reading lights. Good mattresses and soft bed linens. Airco didn't work well. The decor of the hotelrooms is very classical, and doesn't leave an impression. We didn't take the expensive but probabaly very extensive breakfast, simply because we don't need that much in the morning. But there are more than enough other options around. Staff was always very friendly. The only minor point is the -convenient- parking garage, which is €25 per night. We would have expected a reduced rate for hotel guests.

as always in kempinski hotels, luxury and refinement with discreat and helpful staffs. Very well situated to visit museums of the city. You will appreciate to park your car directly under the hotel, related with elavator. Pool is not big but enough to swim, and open till 10PM. You can relax after dinner, before going to bed!! Modern design's room with old chinese furniture in an ancient palais rebuilt as before the war.

Two thumbs up for the Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski in Dresden. It is the without a doubt, the top hotel.

In general, it is the staff that take a hotel over the top. For starters, we checked in to the Kempinski and were somewhat alarmed to discover our junior suite contained two single beds. (My error for not clarifying when I reserved.) By the time we returned from dinner, a new room had been secured, luggage moved, and the new room was an upgrade to our original suite. Wow and Thank You!
Now for the real story…Sarah Kreher, concierge.

We went to Dresden specifically to see Elton John in concert, who was playing in Dresden's Theaterplatz, a beautiful outside square framed by some of the city's most important landmarks. I purchased our tickets on line, in February of 2014 for the July 2014 concert through Vivid Seats (BIG MISTAKE). I paid a fortune and was guaranteed premium seating. A seating map was not available because seats are set up on the plaza just on special occasions. I was HORRIFIED when I walked over the day of the concert and realized that we had paid a ridiculous sum of money for seats in the back section of the plaza.

I walked back to the Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski, and talked to Sarah, the concierge to see if there was ANY way we could secure better tickets. She looked on line and worked for hours to come up with something. At the end of the day, I had two tickets side by side in the front, center section, just a few rows back from the stage. I still cannot quite figure out how she did it!! She secured one on line. And another from a guest also staying at the hotel. I paid face value for both tickets.

The hotel also offers a fantastic breakfast served in its courtyard. It is is out of this world. And The Karl May bar, on location is fabulous. Fantastic list. Great Service. Thank you Niko Pavlidis, bar manager, for keeping us stocked up on Champagne and travel tips.

Two pieces of advice:

#1—Stay at the Kempenski. Two Thumbs up. Thank you Sarah!!!
#2—Avoid Vivid Seats on line for tickets to ANY venue. They are the plague.
