We found this little hotel wonderful. Great location to Porta Nigra and in walking distance to main station. We als appreciated the small touches for example sweets on pillows and weather info in lobby and our gracious host. Wonderful breakfast. Rooms comfortable and clean. Free wifi. Really enjoyed our 4 nights there. Don't be deceived by the tired external appearance. Would definitely recommend

Room tip: All rooms seem ok. Lift provided

Staff is very friendly, rooms are very clean(except the towel rack), breakfast was more then ok, close to town, a very quiet atmosphere.

Furniture looks a little bit dated, but this is just personal taste.

Belated review: I stayed here for two nights in August. The location is fantastic for both intercity travelling and for exploring the attractions of Trier. A 15-mins walk from the hauptbahnhof, it is located in a quiet street just off the main road, about a 3-mins walk from Trier's most famous landmark, the Porta Nigra (Black Gate). Trier is such a walkable city that using the Porta Nigra as starting point, I reached the other main roman ruins and the Karl Marx House on foot.

I liked the hotel's homey feel and the room's yellow accents. WiFi was strong. The staff were friendly and helpful. On the day I checked in, I had trouble opening my room door and the lady on the duty walked up to demonstrate how to do so (one of the quirks - you have to pull back the door handle while turning the key). Most of all, I enjoyed having breakfast which was served in a light-filled room. The buffet-style selection was small but adequate and the food delicious.

A cute hotel with character.

We had a family room for three adults and it was very comfortable. The bathroom was large and had a tub and shower and heated towel rack. Ample storage for suitcases and clothing. View of Porta Nigra out our window. The manager is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the atrium-like breakfast room was more than adequate. Best of all was parking right on site - so convenient. Also appreciated the elevator. We'd be happy to stay here again.

Room tip: Hotel is on quiet side street. Our room was at the back, but doubt there would be noise even at front.

A quiet and unassuming little hotel with a great location. It's just outside of the Porta Nigra. It's also walking distance from the train station. Owner is friendly and accessible. Rooms were quiet and pleasant. LOVED his breakfast. They even offered fleischsalat (one of my favorite German foods). Recommended!
