From the the very friendly welcome to the time of departure, every moment at this small, personalized villa was perfect. The morning buffet breakfast was generous with too many choices as well as specialized requests from the kitchen. We were within a 10 minute walk from the Roman ruins and downtown Trier. The villa was imaculate and had a wonderful soothing spa which overlooked the ruins. It was sublime after dark and added to the comfort and relaxing ambiance of this little gem. Don't bypass the restaurant. We ate there everynight and each night was a special treat.

Stayed for one night in this hotel en route from the UK to Austria. Far nicer place to stay than a soul-less chain hotel. Our room (Munich) was nicely appointed and all the furnishings looked new. The bathroom was large and spotless.

The breakfast spread was really fantastic. A huge variety of cereals, breads and pastries, cheese, meats, fresh fruit, smoked salmon and champagne. Also cooked breakfasts on request. The hotel was happy to fill our flask with coffee for the journey and had left us a little pack of cream and sugar at reception. Staff very friendly.

Trier is a lovely place to stop over. Full of character and fascinating old buildings. Some great shops too.

This small hotel has everything one could wish for. Immaculately clean, extremely helpful and friendly staff, fantastic food and a great situation just far enough out of the hustle and bustle of town. My wife and I stayed three nights and were made welcome in the best traditions of hotel-keeping. We cannot recommend this hotel too highly. I would, however, recommend that if visiting you take a rubber shower mat for safety as the bath is quite narrow and could be dangerous when showering. I mentioned this on leaving so they will probably take action, but just in case I would take a shower mat just to be sure and safe. A couple of tips. Turn right out of the hotel to the end of the road then right again down the hill, under the railway bridge, and right again to get into the lovely city. I would recommend a day-trip to Luxembourg, there are regular and very cheap trains from Trier-Sud station situated above the railway bridge you pass under. (a 10-minute walk from the hotel). To sum up, my wife and I had a wonderful and relaxing stay in a hotel that ticks all the boxes. In its class we've not stayed in a better one anywere. Thank you, Villa Hugel.

The Villa Hugel is about as close to a simply perfect hotel without any pretentsions or false affectations, that one can find. The setting affords excellent views of the city, which is one of the finest tourist destinations in central Germany. The staff is meticulous and professional. Rooms are comfortable and nicely appointed, some rooms are more charming than others but all are nice. The pool and sauna facilities are welcoming. While not a budget hotel, the Villa Hugel would be my first choice of places to stay in Trier.
