“The best Sushi in the Eifel.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

A very good selection or perfectly preparded Sushi. All you can eat at a great price! A warm bar also, with good Miso Soup. The dessert bar finishes a perfect meal! I have been here over 12 times. Its the only Sushi Restaurant in Trier I would go to. The Staff is wonderful and very Friendly.

“re: Agree with January's review”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2012

We chose this restaurant because of trip advisor. We were there early afternoon but my first comment was, how do they know how long these sushi rolls have been sitting here? They were still fresh and service was adequate but I would not want to be there later in the evening. There was just sushi sitting there waiting to get on the conveyor belt - which was not refrigerated and sushi was stacked in twos.

We came out of it unscathed but I would not recommend it because of questionable food handling!

“Beyond Disappointment”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2012

We have generally had excellent results using Tripadvisor to select restaurants when on holidays, and in turn have added reviews for restaurants that have been particularly enjoyable. Alas we have finally experienced an astonishing gap between prior reviews and reality. If it were only small issues or the chance it was an 'off-night' I would not bother to submit a review for this restaurant, but this was a singularly off-putting experience.

Based on the 4 earlier glowing reviews, and violating a maxim to avoid inland sushi restaurants in unfamiliar cities, we selected Tokyo Sushi. There was a tepid greeting as we entered and we picked a spot at the sushi bar -- the moving conveyor belt and color-coded dish variety. It was soon evident some of the dishes had been doing their own version of the 24 Hours of Le Mans for many, many laps -- dull finish and slightly turning edges on some of the fish sushi, and a tired look to some of the salads. I figured they could not ruin a tuna roll, but the rice was over-soft and the filling a mash of light pink-grey tuna. Bleech. Tried a maguro sushi, which looked a deep red but was mushy and flavorless. This was not starting well.

My wife had ordered green tea, and a few minutes later nearly spat out a sip. It was not that the tea was bad, but one of the staff has topped it up in passing with contents from a similar soy-sauce mini-pitcher. The service slip would have been funny if the food was otherwise fine, but it bordered on inedible or worse.

We soon elected to check the warm buffet bar to see if there was something to redeem the meal. The miso soup was a broth with long- dissolved soy curd, the dim-sum was of a much earlier vintage, and a dumpling ball had a particularly nasty grey-grisle filling. We asked for the tab (and as a high point of the meal the host was polite), and for only the second time in years we went in search of another restaurant for a second dinner.

We are not particularly fussy, and are fortunate to have several good sushi restaurants in Den Haag, but this was a scary experience. Avoid like the plague, or like foodpoisoning.

“Excellent sushi! Wonderful quality and great value for money.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2011

I've long searched for a good value, good quality authentic sushi restaurant. This is it! I was extremely impressed by the quality of the fish used (especially the salmon and eel) , by the variety of sushi on offer (and the interesting combinations of ingredients) and the skill of the sushi chefs. In short, this place is a wonderful find and if you enjoy sushi you must visit. The price is under 20 Euros at present for dinner and about 13 Euros for lunch which includes desserts and certain hot dishes. Great value, good service and above all fantastic sushi!

“Super good and kind staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2011

It is the best Sushi place around Trier and Luxembourg. With the treadmill sushis passing by it is not only pleasant for the eye but also a lot of fun. The place is very big and clean, the staff s extremely nice and the price is good. If you don't find your favorite sushi on the treadmill you can ask the waiter and the Japanese cooks will make one for you. The miso soup is very good and there is also a buffet of steamed crab ravioli and fried gambas with garlic. There is also a dessert buffet. I suggest the formula all you can eat. We've been there twice and will go back (I hope soon!).
