“An old comeback”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2014

Two years ago we came across this restaurant and was a nice surprise. As we needed to attend the very same meeting, a new visit was paid...
For us was very pleasant to notice it remained unchanged...Inside, it looks like a WWII bomb shelter but we found the same 3 or 5 liters of beer tubes, half meter sausages and a very huge sauerkraut knuckle... And not especially priced. Staff very friendly and weekends very crowded...
And it is important... the beer is homemade

“Best places for a beer in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2014

Great beer and typical German food for a reasonable. Every time I come to Mainz, this is my first stop. Definitely recommend it!

“you have to visit the place if you are in Mainz”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014

actually we went twice. They have two types of beer brewed on site... dark and light.. food is very gemanic.. sausages.. and bits of pig served whole on a plate. loud, brassy, crowded and loads of fun. reserve or sit at the bar.. its a big, warren like place with holes full of tables everywhere.. great fun.

“Great Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

Eisgrub is one of those restaurants in Germany that make their own beer, and it is delicious. Their food is also very good, with a few dishes that are some of the best I've had, like spiessbraten and spundekas. Eisgrub is one of the better places to go with a group of people for an evening, though you will probably want to make a reservation. They serve their beer in 3 and 5 liter "towers" that you can share between everyone and have a great night.

Like all european restaurants their service can be lacking at times. Whether there is an exceptionally large crowd or just less staff than normal, you can be waiting awhile for the staff to see to you needs. This is more the exception than the rule with Eisgrub though. I highly recommend it from a friendly gathering to a work outing. An amazing place.
