I went to the museum because it was free and it was raining, but I'm really glad I went. The exhibits were well-put together, including a dozen or more models of the city at various points in its history. There were also models of a Münsterland farmhouse and an early 20c. shop that you could walk into. The videos were interesting and informative and the pictures and wall murals were very powerful, especially those pertaining to the Holocaust. There was also a special exhibit about toys, and several hands-on activities for kids.
I will say that I didn't try to get printed information in English and I'm not sure if it's even possible. I do know that you can phone to organize a guided tour in English.
