“A great place in Old Town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

I ate here with a colleague while visiting Dusseldorf for a conference. It was a lot of fun. Don't expect any pretense, this is genuine German that survives after decades of service. No waiter spoke any English, so that added to the charm. We were seated at a table with people from America, Austria, Switzerland, Nepal, and Ireland. All of us spoke English, so we just enjoyed the experience.

Don't expect a lot of salads and healthy stuff, this is a red meat kind of place. I had the goulosh special which was wonderful. They have small glasses of local brewed beer which was also very good.

This is a real international treat and should not be missed if you have an open evening here in Dusseldorf.

“Best bar in the Altstadt”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

The best bar in the old town by far, you just can't visit Dusseldorf without a visit (or two) to Uerige. They brew their own Alt so it's also the best beer in town! The place is a real tardis in that there are so many nooks and crannies to sit and relax, there always seems to be a little space. The waiters are great, friendly and cheeky but so fast. You'll never have to wait for another beer!

If you only visit one bar in Dusseldorf then it has to be Uerige.

“a must stop”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

Many a night ended at Zum Uerige. It's the perfect place to have a beer and people watch. The crowd is great. The waiters are fantastic.

“Best place to relax, have a beer (or 3) and people watch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2012

We loved hanging out here at the Dusseldorf Altsadt. It became our place every night we stayed in dusseldorf area. wait staff is friendly, funny, and fast. There is an eneglish version of the menu if you flip to the inside, we didnt find that until halfway through our second visit. The Pea Soup was a daily special one night and it was the best pea soup I ever had. We loved the inexpensive price of beer and food. We tried so many different things. My husband loves pork and the Mittbrochen (or ground pork) happened to be one of the things they were passing around on trays. I also got a fresh pretzel this way, super yummy. The twist of the pickle eggs was interesting too. Like i said we loved just sitting there enjoying the atmosphere both inside and out, but outside is better for people watching. Go thirsty because as soon as you finish your beer they are bringing you a new one. or if you are done drinking, make sure you cover your glass with a coaster or leave just a bit in it.

Best "Altbier" - the local brew - in town, brewed on the premises with a huge terrace.
