Cannot say anything bad about this hotel. We stayed for 3 nights over New Year. Check in was efficient. The room was lovely very spacious, comfy bed and modern bathroom. Breakfast was great with lots of choice. Great location 10 minute walk to old town.

This is a new hotel that offers everything you would ever need. The rooms are top notch and specious. The hotel bar is specious and stylish. They are attached to a first class gym with pool and spa. The hotel is located on one of the best shopping streets in Germany. There are excellent places to eat. The night life on weekends is bustling. Everything is in walking distance. Located a long walk or very short taxi ride from the Dusseldorf main train station. The customer service was excellent. Although I try to speak the language of the country I visit, the entire staff spoke very good English.

Room Tip: Higher floors for a better view

Arrived at 15.00 on Saturday 19th January to find our (Club) room was not yet ready due to very high occupancy levels. This was a little disappointing but not a big deal for us as we were only staying overnight and were not looking to spend too much time in the room. We were invited to wait in the Club lounge for what was estimated to be an hour until it was available. Check-in staff could not have been more friendly, more apologetic or more helpful. We decided to enjoy the remaining daylight and go for a walk.

Came back around five o'clock and the room was still not ready. Provided with further apologies and an upgrade to a junior suite. Again, front desk staff at this stage I would be giving 15 out of 10 for professionalism and friendliness, even if the room should have been ready by this time.

The suite was lovely, very well furnished and everything was perfect. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable.

Club lounge offers complimentary snacks and drinks during the day and alcoholic drinks and a light supper between 6 and 8. As we had not eaten since leaving London at 9am and we did not plan on having dinner, we headed to the lounge for something light to eat, around 6.15pm

The savoury food offering consisted of one plate of roasted peppers - which was empty/finished at the time we arrived and was not replaced until 19.55 - a very nice cheeseboard and three small hot dishes. The hot dishes ran out around 18.30 and were not replenished at all, leaving the cheese as the only savoury option. I was so hungry I over-compensated on cheese to the point by 19.00 I started to feel sick. The cheese ran out by 19.30 but was replaced with a fresh plate around 19.50

One bottle of (watery) red wine was available between around 20 guests in the lounge. When it ran out, it was not replaced. There was plenty of white wine and soft drinks.

At 20.00 on the dot, the small dessert plates that had yet to be eaten were removed, leaving only cheese and roasted peppers. No bread, no crackers... and no logic as to what was supposed to be on offer or until what time.

There was one waiter to look after all this who seemed to be incredibly busy, so much so that he never bothered arranging for empty dishes to be replenished or guests to be fed. I dont know what he was doing to keep himself busy apart from filling the fridge with bottles of water. We served ourselves drinks.

I highlight this shortcoming because it was so shockingly out of character for what we experienced elsewhere in the hotel. We went out to see Kraftwerk at 23.00 (the reason for our visit to Dusseldorf) and were given perfect assistance at the Concierge desk. We came back at 02.30 am and again, the staff were welcoming and friendly as we turned in for the night.

Breakfast in the Club lounge was a better experience than the night before but the food was again not replenished when it ran out.

Check out was efficient and very friendly.

Overall we had a great time at this wonderful hotel and only for the Club lounge shortcomings I would not hesitate to describe it as perfect, so good was everything else.

I cannot praise the Intercon staff highly enough and look forward to returning to the hotel and spending more time in this city if ever the opportunity arises. Hopefully they will have sorted this one issue out.

We arrived, January 1st, 2013 from Paris by train. Negatively on the train, we thought that no one at the door are ready to welcome us, as the first day of the year, January 1st, 2013, after the big new years eve party a night before.
Supprisingly, they were on the ball!! Starting from the entrance door, the doorman, the bellboy who helped us with our luggage from the taxi, and the receptions, they were all fantastic, greetings, smile and proffesionally welcoming us to the hotel. The restaurant staff where our breakfast taken was also excellent.
Until we checked-out, we were treated with a good service, that really amaze us for a normal European hotel in Dusseldorf.
Bravo all of you. Though we never see the GM/Executive of the hotel around the hotel, but it shows that they can work without supervision. They must have had a good system. Conggratulations mate. See you again on my next holiday.

Great hotel with very friendly and helpfull staff. I was lucky enough to be upgraded and stayed in a top floor suite with a great view of the city. Hotel is in a great downtown location with plenty of great shops on the doorstep.

We have been to Düsseldorf numerous times over the years. Usually we stayed at the Breidenbacher Hof, but this time we choose Interconti and I have to say, without any regret!
Excellent rooms, well equiped and the best beds and pillows (rare for German hotels).
All staff very friendly and helpfull. Very good breakfast.

However; one minor point. The hotel mentions having an (indoor) pool and wellness facilities. Be aware that this does NOT belong to the hotel. It's a kind of seperate 'gym' and even somewhat difficult to find. When you finally turn up at the reception of the subject gym, this appaers to be a kind of shop at street level. Rather weard to show up there in your bathrobe and slippers. The place askes an entrance fee of € 15. Pool size is disappointing; we were unlucky the pool area was 'packed' with just a very limited number of deckchairs. No towels around, very slippery floors etc. etc. All in all not that attractive and very much below par for an Interconti. So do not bother selecting this hotel only based on the mentioned pool.

Rooms are very good but there is hardly any difference between superior and deluxe (except for the floor level and a very poorly lightened walk-in closet)

However, still a very positive impression of the rest of the hotel. If you do not care about the pool/wellness facilities, this is definately a very good hotel in Düsseldorf at a great (probably the best) location.

Good value for money (we booked via www.booking.com and had an attractive price including breakfast).

Room Tip: Avoid a room on the back-side of the hotel; the local tramway can be disturbing

This was my second stay at the hotel. My first stay was quite average however I am pleased to say that my visit this time around was much better. I booked a club room and was given an upgrade to a corner executive room which was quite spacious (45-50sqm) and overlooking the courtyard/atrium which is the lobby.

Club benefits include access to the 2nd floor club lounge which is beautifully decorated and is an open space. There is no ceiling nor room structure that it is encased in. Quality of hot and cold food that was served in the lounge was nothing special but there was enough choice so that one could choose. Plenty of drinks too, however no salty accompanying items like chips or nuts.

We ordered three small dishes from Pega, the Intercontinental's main restaurant but found it poor in quality. On both visits, the food served from the restaurant had extremely high amounts of salt in it.

One issue that they did not warn me about when I checked in was that a number of rooms were being renovated next to my room. Although the level of noise was at a minimum the crew started early in the morning and they were still there late into the afternoon.

On my visits to Dusseldorf, I usually stay at the Hyatt Regency located in the Hafen district but I will probably alternate now and again to stay at the Intercontinental to switch things up a bit.

One another note my Intercontinental Ambassador benefits included:
1.)room upgrade
2.) a bowl of fruit (this was not delivered to me on my previous visit)
3.) a late check out until 4 without any complaint from the hotel
4.) a free movie as always
5.) the ambassasdor gift was two chocolate truffels

Room Tip: Internet is free in all rooms if you choose the 256 kb package. Anything faster than that will incu...
