Good mid range hotel conveniently located for Hauptbahnhof, Aldstadt, Königsallee and Medienhafen.
Staff professional, helpful and friendly.
Free Wifi in room (without free Wifi, in the lobby at least, I will not book a hotel) Breakfasts, included in my room rate, extensive, good quality, and always a small selection of hot food.
Room large, air conditioned, but rather bland. Bathroom excellent.
I visited Classic Remise, an old tram depot, full of wonderful cars. This is a commercial enterprise but free to enter and walk around. Unmissable for anyone with an interest in cars, or old buildings.
Also visited Wuppertal, about 30 minutes away on the S8, and explored its fascinating overhead tramway. Took in the Engels/Industrial museum, well worth seeking out.
Whilst Dusseldorf doesn't have any high profile attractions it is an exciting city, plenty to see, with cultured and nice people. Well worth a visit.

I concur with many other reviewers on here. This is an average hotel made great by the people who work there and the fact that you get free public transport passes in with the price.
i have stayed in Dusseldorf for a couple of nights per year for the last 20 years and this is about the best hotel I've used to date.
Easy walking distance from the railways station, U-bahn, Altstadt and the river.
Rooms are good without being exceptional and the price is very reasonable by German city standards.

Stayed for the third time at the Mitte, this time for five nights, and was not disappointed. The hotel is located in a main road between the Hauptbahnhof/main station and Altstadt/old town, which is very convenient. Around the hotel some shops and a couple of restaurants as well as late-open kiosk are available, but traffic dominates.

Checking in early at about 12:30 was no problem, and the rooms were available. All the staff are welcoming and friendly, and particularily the night guard is especially friendly and humorous.

My room was a rather small single, but with a comfortable very high ceiling, which made it seem quite spacious anyway. The decor is rather modern, and the storage space is satisfying. The bathroom is quite small, but an efficient layout as well as a large shower (albeit almost without water pressure) means it's still comfortable. Air conditioning is available only when you're in the room by turning the system on with a key, but this wasn't a problem with such an efficient system even with 30 degrees C. A minus in this particular room was no bed headboard and an odd TV position, but otherwise no complaints.

I should add that it seems like there are many different types of rooms in this older building, and also a fair amount facing the street. Some of my companions had the latter, and while not noisy with the windows closed traffic could still be heard – so ask for a backyard-facing room if you're touchy.

The breakfast is good, with plenty to choose from, and is served until relaxing 11 o'clock every day. There are outside tables in the tastefully decorated, flower-rich backyard which is very nice in sunny weather.

In all the Mitte is comfortable with pleasant and attentive staff. An added bonus is free public transport in the whole “VRR” region, which enabled you to travel through Düsseldorf and visit some neighbouring citites as well at no cost. I'd be happy to return.
