“New and clean hotel close to old town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2014

The hotel check in is after 3 pm and the entire process was very efficient and fast. The walking distance to old town from the hotel takes about 10 – 13 min and you also have a tram station right in front of the hotel. I am rating this hotel based on German prices and standards and not in the global context. The hotel is very new, clean, well run but the room was very small and my bed was very small and compact (refer to images uploaded). The staff were courteous, efficient, professional, but lack the warmth you find in Asia or the States. I was satisfied with the wifi in the room and and great to see RT as alternate cable news. You get charged EU 15 per day for using the parking garage in the basement. Be warned, the parking garage is very compact and very tedious to get in and get out with very tight parking spots. They also have a small bar next to the check in counter that seems to be open only on the weekends. The cleaning staff do a good job at cleaning your room and every time I return the room was spotless. The check out was very easy and again very efficient. Great location and great prices during the specials..

Room Tip: The hotel check in is after 3 pm and the entire process was very efficient and fast. The walking d...

A stay here on business. On check-in there was a mix up but they found me a room after a few minutes so no harm done. Staff on check-in were friendly and helpful.

The room was decorated to a high standard, the only criticism was that the bathroom had a slight smell of bad drains but as I was at a trade fair and in the room for a very short time I did not report this to the hotel so they may not be aware of the issue.

The hotel bar is great fun - cheesy 70's disco music and a good bar tender, best hotel bar I have been in for ages and we enjoyed a nightcap there both nights.

Breakfast was very good, a nice bright dining room, a good choice and good quality.

All in all very good. It is a 20 minute walk to the Altstadt so not so close but it felt safe doing the walk.

Whole hotel is a decent place to stay at Dusseldorf, quite near to town centre.

"However, the cleaning staff make such a massive racket in the mornings constantly slamming doors (8:50am) not to mention one just let herself in to my room without even knocking!!!" (As 4321Marcus1234 wrote!)

And someone steal 400euro from my collegues room when we was at training centre!!! As policeman said "it is quite common if you do not use hotel-room-safe" - but we had no such problem even in China !

Anyway - Derag hotel is great place to stay and I hope that they will work on to be even better :-)

Dear guest,

Thank you very much for 5 points out of 5. Especially after the mentioned issues. Luckily it came out in a good way. And as you can see - we are never afraid of helping you - even to call the police if you have such an issue.
The cleaning-noise - we already mentioned in the previous comment was taken care of.

We hope to see you soon.

Kind regards

Good hotel, really good food, efficient service. Breakfast expensive but convenient ( not many restaurants etc round about).
Bar ok - but there is a smoking room, which does allow the smoke to leak out so not good later in the evening. Ps ask for a room with a bath if you like a bath!

We spent 4 nights at this hotel and we were very satisfied from the facilities. The Derag Livinghotel is located close to the old town ( about 15 minutes walk or 3-4 stops by tram 703 just across the hotel). The room was in excellent condition, clean, with very comfortable beds and flat screen TV. Our room had a fully functional kitchenette with mini fridge, micro wave and hot plate. The bathroom was clean and functional. We used the hotels underground parking for 16euros/night. Also very close to the hotel there is a supermarket'

This place is a decent place to stay and my room (a business exec room) is pretty faultless.

However, the cleaning staff make such a massive racket in the mornings constantly slamming doors (8:50am) not to mention one just let herself in to my room without even knocking!!!

The other major draw back is the Bar thats joined to the hotel reception allows smoking so when you walk in to the hotel from the fresh air outside it stinks like an old ashtray.

I am amazing the management allow this but there we go.

It definitely put us off our planned idea of a night cap!!!

Room Tip: Business rooms are worth the extra £££

Dear guest,

We are teribbly sorry for the disturbing cleaning - this is not the normal way we like to treat our guests. Be assure, that we already spoke about this with all employees.
We can understand, that the smoke from the bar is irritating you - and we worked on the AC to keep this under a better controll.

Hope 2 cu soon!
