“I rate it very good among it's peers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2012

I've stayed in several similar type hotels in Dusseldorf city centre and cannot fault this for value and comfort. I will stay here again.
It is about 10-15 minutes walk from Hauptbahnhof (including waiting time to cross a few busy streets). The road is not attractive, with small businesses mainly. I felt totally safe in the area. There is a convenience store around the corner, and several more on the walk up from the station.
Service is very pleasant at the desk and at breakfast. Breakfast itself was very good, in a smallish room, is continental style and served from a buffet. Fresh coffee/tea is served to order.
I stayed in a single room which was much larger than those in several other hotels in the city, important to me if staying for more than a couple of nights. My room faced the rear of the hotel, so was quiet. The room was perfectly clean, and the bathroom facilities (separate shower area) were adequate.
Internal walls are too thin, like everywhere else in the city it seems, so some noise transfers from room to room or from the corridor outside. Pity my neighbour when I got into my full-on snoring mode.
This hotel suited my needs perfectly for my three night stay and provided very good value.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back may be quieter.

I went there in October,2011.The hotel is extremly clean, breakfast although its only 8 tables but you can find whatever you need.Room is extremly small and not luxurious.it was costy because I went in period of Anuga exhibition.if you went in different timming it will be cheaper and at that time it will worth money paid. Its near train station and metro and shopping area,If you need a clean hotel you can choose this one

At checking-in, the toilet bowl was not cleaned. I reported it, but it was cleaned the next day. The elevator stops between floors. The rooms at the hotel's site look large, but they are tiny. No space to put the luggage. For a larger room there is a surcharge. During breakfast a guest had his huge dog sitting next to him. Only the second day the receptionist told the man to take his dog out of the dining room, after the dog started shaking. The only plus is that the hotel gives you a transportation ticket. The foam mattress is soft and your body sinks in, which makes it difficult to turn.
I would not stay there again.

I have to give two stars to this hotel because i did not sleep for 3 days.

THE GOOD . There is good things about it: the staff is helpful and friendly , the location is OK (10 min walk to the main station) but there is nothing to see around the hotel. The rooms are very clean and the washrooms large. Soap and towels always replenished.

THE REST. This is an old hotel, it is very noisy. At night, you can hear the elevator going up and down the building . I was on the fifth floor and it was still very noisy. The guests are inconsiderate and scream their way to their rooms. The walls are made of paper so you can hear people even when they are in their rooms. Housekeeping every morning early making noise and speaking very loud in the hallways.

The beds are small and not very comfortable... I would not go back

Some years ago I lived in Germany and today this hotel gave me a feeling of being there again instead of classic up to dated hotels (the hotel is rather old with regular room keys and TV, no flatscreen). Me and my colleagues were very satisfied with rooms, breakfast, free mini-bar etc. Before coming to Dusseldorf I did searching over the hotels very carefully by reason to avoid noisy streets because of the trams in Dusseldorf. This hotel fits perfectly. The only dissapointments are pay wi-fi and an old stain on carpet in the middle of room but that`s a trifle. I will certainly stay at Schumacher hotel next time I come to Dusseldorf!

Hotel has a very warm atmosphere. Staff are friendly. Room is clean. Bathroom is wide and well equipped (they'll give you small size toothpaste and shave kit). Bed comfortable, but pillow is rather small. Breakfast is good, you have choise of warm and cold dishes. Two things are great: you get free mini-bar with non-alcoholic drinks and transport card which allow you travel in bus, S-, U-bahn and DB (in 2 class) in half part of N.Rhine-Westphalia. Please note: there are noisy in rooms sided to street.
