“Very enjoyable stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

I stayed in the Villa Viktoria for 2 nights with my 23 year old son as he has a job in Dusseldorf. We had a lovely break, the hotel is full of charm and little touches, you want for nothing. The rooms are pleasantly furnished and have everything you could need such as tea/coffee making facilities, even some complimentary pot noodle type pots which my son found very handy. There are even some cooking facilities and a sink and a few different types of glasses. The beds are really comfy and the fruit and cakes in the reception area were a very nice touch. We didnt have breakfast but we did take some of the fruit up to room to nibble on!
The staff were most helpful too - no complaints with anything.
I will definitely be back when we next visit!

One of the most unique hotels ever. Wonderful large rooms with personality and walking distance to numerous meeting points, parks and restaurants.

For a private meeting location or extended business trip bring your spouse here. Great staff

We stayed here as it was very close to our friends apartment but as things turned out it was an excellent choice. The room was large and had a balcony onto the front of the hotel. The bathroom had a large bath and a very powerful shower. There was a lounge area which was larger than I have seen in many far more expesive hotels. My partner thought it was bit old fashioned but I thought it added to the character. The bed and pillows were so comfortable and the separate quilts a must on the warm evenings. We did not make it down to the breakfast (too many late nights on the Alstadt) but the garden area where the breakfast is served is lovely and very quiet, you would never know you were in a city. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for the staff, bringing us up ice as soon as we asked, and the pastries in the hallway were much appreciated when we could not find a sandwich bar open on a Sunday. Very near the tram and bus routes and a short walk (about 15 minutes) from the park by the Rhine which is lovely and once you get there if you head downriver you reach the bars and restaurants which are lively and friendly. Would definately stay again.

I first stayed here in 2006 and when business recently took me back to Dusseldorf I had no hesitation about booking the Viktoria. Nothing has changed in the interim; the rooms are enormous and comfortably appointed, there is a lovely garden, and the staff are simply excellent. Just a 5 minute cab ride from the Altstadt. Highly recommended.

We went to Dusseldorf for a quick overnight trip. We chose to stay at the Villa Viktoria based on TA reviews and we were not disappointed.

Like others said, the room was enormous! We were in the Viktoria suite: Two levels, two tv's, two big beds, two bathrooms, kitchenette/little fridge/minibar/etc. Plenty of room for this family of four - in Europe no less.

The staff was SOOOO nice and accommodating, and our kids LOVED all the goodies set out in the lobby for guests to enjoy: candies, fruits, cakes and ice cream. They also had an espresso machine for us parents :-). The garden was beautiful, and the neighborhood was charming. As others have said, it's not quite in the middle of things, but it was very easy to use the trams to get out to all the action. They also offer free parking, and cheap internet.

Our friends stayed at an international chain hotel in town, but it would have been 3Xs the cost of the VV. The chain that we normally stay at would also have cost more, and also would have been less comfortable as their rooms are big enough to accommodate only 3 people. Either cram 4 people into a room too small or buy 2 rooms. Although we missed out on accruing our status points with our usual international chain, the Villa Viktoria was the right choice for this trip as it offered too great of a value and better comfort, and was the right choice for this trip.

No hotel is perfect, and the Villa Viktoria is no exception. As others have noted, the breakfast buffet was quite vast with at least 5 different kinds of juices, more toast spreads than you can imagine, fruits, meats and cheeses, breads and pastries, a wide array of nuts and such for hot cereal toppings, a wide selection of cold cereals, and of course scrambled eggs, bacon and potatoes, etc. But, at 20€ per person - it was over-priced.

There was no air conditioning in the rooms, and sleeping was not as comfortable as we would have liked.

And lastly, no pool for kids. Certainly not their fault, but on such a warm day, this was a negative for us.

All in all, we would definitely stay there again, under the right circumstances.

This was our last stop on the way back to the US. After spending a week in teeny hotel rooms throughout Europe we were amazed when we stepped into our room at Villa Viktoria. It was HUGE. We had a living area downstairs and bed upstairs in a loft. This room was probably 4 times the size (at least) of any of the other rooms we stayed in and it was significantly cheaper than the other rooms as well. Our room over looked the beautiful garden.
The staff was very helpful. The room and hotel were very clean. The location was fine. We didn't really explore the city but we did walk around the neighborhood and found great places to eat for lunch and dinner.

Quite nice hotel, but needs a little bit refurbishing. Old filthy carpets is not my thing at all. But the service was good and so is the location.
Maybe other rooms are better than mine? I might stay there again.
